I think we should have a maximum sig size, say a maximum height and width, like they do on some forums.

I dont mean to be a kill joy or anything, but peoples sigs are getting sooooo massive that its getting hard to read some threads and soon we are going to be getting one reply per page!

What do you reckon Ben?

I was about to say can this thread be deleted as it's going round in circles. I've made a compromise by taking my signature off the main forum & posting a link in my sig so people can still view it. It just doesn't seem to be going anywhere now!

I cant see why people are complaining about there being a signature limit, theres always been a avatar limit and no-one complains about that.

The main point of a signature is a small personal touch to your post, i stress small. Not something which takes up a third of a screen.

Let's be honest a lot of other forums are extremely strict on sig sizes, I think 56K users do need to be considered, as they have just as much right to get the maximum out of the forum, which means being able to view sigs if they want. You could argue that there could be an element of elitism between BB/dial up users, as BB users wouldn't have that much of a problem with the larger sigs, whereas it may mean navigating the forum is a real pain for a 56K user unless they turn sigs off, which they may not want to do, and that, IMO is a bit unfair. I don't have anything against sigs, in fact I do like them, but other people do need to be considered to make the forum fully accessible to all.

No bad feeling from me - as I have said to one member just because I disagree with them on this point doesn't mean I dislike them as a person. I hope that all my points are taken objectively, as indeed they were made.

Exactly, if people cant have a discussion without others taking things to heart instead of looking at it from other peoples POV then we wont ever get anywhere.

Just cos i said i am not keen on the gif sigs doesnt mean i dont like the person who has it ;) and i am speaking on behalf of others that feel the same way

This any better guys ?

I am just a bit peeved because I don't get a lot of spare time lately and the little bit of time I did get I spent doing those damn sigs instead of with my family.

So when I hear people complaining it just annoyed me, as all I have done is tried to help out others.

I have total sympathy for those on lesser connections and those people that used their sigs that I made were warned about the file sizes and the fact they may be frowned upon.

As for Daves comment about new users having problems, is it not possible to have sigs turned off as default for the forum ?
That way would get around the fact that new users would just give up on the forum due to speed/loading problems....

My sig is 49k now, is this small enough for most people or what...

My annimated one was something like 150kb iirc...

And yes those are my new wheels in the sig and no you can't see them yet :D

Without reading through the thread again, I think it was Joe that mentioned the profile pictures being bigger if possible. I would just like to say that is one of the most sensible suggestions I have heard since this problem was brought up, and I would like to second that request.

P.S nobody has to pretend to like me ;)

EDIT : Sammi your sig is too wide on my PC :D
EDIT 2 : So is yours Dave :D
