I am stupid

 So I buy a stilo active /02...err no cd..right..straight to ebay start sniffing about, whey heyy ! £99 10 disc changer blaupunkt A08 thank you very much !( as I rubbed my hands together in excitement not knowing that it was now discontinued and that even if I bought the new A03 would be facing exactly the same damn problem)
So it arrives and I ran outside and plugged it in and pressed the function button..then I pressed it again..then Itwiddled knobs and pushed other buttons in vain trying to pretend I would get it to work deep down knowing somthing was wrong. So after phoning blaupunkt and listen to them tell me that my cd changer will not work with my head unit I need to either change the fascia and head unit or get the correct cd changer for the head unit in.
Anyway after my missus beat me up and called me names for a while I thought I would join this forum and beg for advice on what to do next..what cd changer does work with my head unit ?
I was informed there was some smart audio guys on here...are you still about ?

Welcome to the madhouse Benjy

There is only one CD Changer specifically designed to work with the Stilo head unit - the Blaupunkt A09.

Before you race off and buy the first one you find on eBay, there are two versions of the A09 - the one that works and the one that doesn't...what's the difference? About £75 and FIAT specific firmware.

The FIAT compatible ones are quite common on eBay and one of the main dealers has complete kits up at the minute (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=9895&item=7974168787&rd=1) - there is also someone selling a 2 week old kit for £99 on a buy it now (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=10382&item=4550334113&rd=1) which is a steal as its around £235 in the Brio book.

Other option is to fit an complete aftermarket headunit and changer package which is fairly straightforward however depending on the headunit being fitted you may need to do some basic wiring mods to get round the lack of a switched live feed in the Stilo stero wiring.

The problem is you need a Fiat specific 5 Disc changer to work with the standard headunit (It goes in the Upper dashboard glovebox), as you all ready have a Blaupunkt 10 Disc the best bet is to buy a facia and a Blaupunkt head unit.

You can pick up a MP3 unit for around £100.00 - use that with your 10 disc and you got a lot of music in your car at any time (y)

Thats my sony ... looks fine in place of the standard unit.

:) WOW ! Thanks for the speedy replies you lot !
Nice piccies, there seems to be a few blaupunkt A09 s on ebay but I am slightly confused as to bidding on them when they state they have been taken out of cars other than a fiat....its the software thing, My missus is still unhappy with me for buying the A08 :( She wants to keep the original head unit so I guess I have to head in that direction...sheesh :bang:
