Hello everyone!
My first time too write here.
I have a Fiat Qubo 1,3 Multijet from 2009. With 104000 km on the clock. I need help with cleaning of my engine. What do I need to cover up before? Something I need too take extra careful around?
Pictures of the engine would help me understand what I need to cover and other things.
Thank you!

Hello and thank you!
I think the engine is really Dirty, its a lot of dust and road salt and other dirt. It have not been cleand under the hood since it was new.

So the best thing to do is just wipe it of a little bit?

Thank you for answer!

A cup with soapy water.. and a 'paintbrush' will soak..and agitate the dirt

Rinse off with a supply of clean water.. I used a garden watering can.. quite controllable ;)

Again..avoid electrical parts

Cleaning the black plastic engine cover.. and body colour painted areas will make quite a difference visually :)

Hello and thanks, I will test it and see if I can get it clean.

Hello and thanks, I will test it and see if I can get it clean.

My method of cleaning an engine bay is not recommended but is the way every car dealership will do it.

Spray everything with a liberal coating of soap or detergent, give it a minute, then blast it with a pressure washer avoiding anything electrical (basically just the big plastic bits give everything a swish round with a large paint brush if there is still dirt, then rinse.

Never spray anything electrical and never spray the battery or the air intake. Never do it on a hot engine some people will very carefully cover anything electrical in cling film

Hello and thank you :)
If I will use your method, would you recomend to cover something under the hood? Battery, generator etc? What is most emootionally for water?
Thanks for the help!

Yes

Battery. ECU. Alternator

Abs glow plugs aircon pump

Then all of the exposed wiring connections

Did I mention its a job that needs care ;)

What charlie here suggests.

I don’t because I’m reckless and to be fair I’ve steam cleaned dozens and does end of cars in my time. If I cause a problem that’s my problem so if you’re not sure what you’re doing, definitely cover things up

Tips for cleaning diesel off engine parts? I squirted fuel over some of the front and some pipes etc today and I gave it a wipe with tissue but I'm wondering if I should do something like the 'dealership method' but without the pressure washer part. Soaking it all in some dish soap water and then rinsing off with some water?
On the plus side I successfully changed the copper injector seals and now it actually makes full use of the remap.
