My Electric windows stopped working this morning and now I can't open them using the drivers side controls.
If I lean over and push the passenger side buttons the passenger window opens but the button on the drivers side does nothing.(n)

I removed the door card during my lunch break to have a look at what was behind it and found it was just 2 switches with cables running down the door into the fuse box (I think i've checked the right fuse and it seems ok).
As i could see me getting nowhere in my break I replaced the door card but now cannot lock the car at all.:bang:

The key will not turn in the lock and trying it from the passenger side locks the other 3 then opens again (as though a door isn't closed properly)

If I open the door and manually push the lock (to simulate closed) then the key will turn and lock but again with it closed nothing happens.

HELP!!

I'm having the same trouble
drivers window switch wont work but works fine for passanger window.
Central locking has gone bonkers have had to remove the fuse. Pain in the @rse !!

if you get a fix for this then please let me know :)

If the pass switch from drivers side still works but drivers side doesn't then it's either a loose wire on the drivers side, or a knackered motor on the drivers side.

If it was fuse, i would have thought neither would work.

The door won't lock properly most likely because you haven't put the door card back on right, take it off and try again.

Both sides on mine work, but they are ridiculously slow. any ideas how to sort this aswell anyone?

They be knackered mate. Get yourself some replacements motors from a scrappy/ebay and replace them.

You could take them apart and just grease them up, but that won't last, just need some new ones.

just new motors? have any idea how much ?

I'd replace the whole mechanism, it's basically just a motor with some wires on it, and a long strip that attached to the bottom of the window.

Not sure how much, as mine came with interior, but I wouldn't pay more than a tenner each.

ebay linky

edit: make sure you get ones from a 5 door!

thanks alot mate. Gonna have a trip to the old scrappy tomorrow. :)

I sorted the Locking but still having real problems with the windows!

I thought it may have been the drivers side motor at first, but as neither of the buttons work i can only assume something else.

Is there a relay involved with the operation of the windows?

I know the fuse is fine and i've checked everything in the glove box to make sure.

could be damp in the conectors, i had an astra(n)(n)(n) before the punto, and the front eletricve windows didnt work tuck the door card off cleaned up the conections and a dose of wd40 sorted them for me,

Could also be damage to the wires where they pass through the rubber trunk between the door and the door jamb.
