Hi my first main fault with the Punto 2012 multijet 1.3
code P0096 intake air temperature sensor 2 circuit range/performance bank
Any ideas what would be involved with this one please /could i replace a sensor myself easily or is more involved ,the Fiat garage i went to this morning said further investigation would be needed to remove different pipes etc to find the fault 3 to 4 hours work but i cant believe this .

I don't know the 1.3, but on the larger multijets it's part of the manifold air pressure sensor. might just need a clean. but should be easy to replace in any case. Redcar is a bit far but if you ever get near Cambridge I can put Multiecuscan diagnostics on the car and get a better idea of what is going on. No way that this should be 3 - 4 hours work for investigation!

Hi,
Sorry for slow reply I was at work and have limited access. Yes, that is the correct sensor. The screw holding it in is probably a RIBE ( https://www.machinemart.co.uk/p/pro168/ is what I use) but at a pinch you can use a tight fitting Hex (Allen) or Torx key.

Hi thanks Robert no problem ,as the car is behaving itself no smoke no loss of performance no loss of mpg i will have a look at it at the weekend but thanks for your help :)

Well this was another 5 minute max job, middle left behind the air filter side sensor removed and refitted ,most main dealer will want to hook you up to a diagnostics machine at anywhere between 50-95 pounds before they carry out the repair, either buy your own or lend a friends ,my code was P0096 so if this happens in the future the search function will find this .
The sensor was covered in gunk so not good ,but at £15 to replace i cannot complain the car is 4 years 6 months old and the mileage is 45,000 so all okay in the end here is the link to the part,

could you leave the airfilter in place?,
just uncouple the sensor and remove..??

not had a MJ 1.3;)

The air filter is not the problem so stays in place the sensor would have to be re-programmed out of the ecu but it was a cheap fix and not necessary(y)

I was trying to ask what was involved in your 5 minute job..;)

so it's somewhere to the left of the airfilter housing.,
and doesn't need anything removing for access.(y)

Nothing really leave everything in place , reach down behind the engine left hand side undo the connector wiring remove one screw which holds the sensor in place then that`s it really re fit in reverse Charlie (y)
