Hello all,

Just a quick question and thought I'd pick the brains of those more in the know than me! I have recently purchased a 14 plate Punto Easy 1.2 8v with the brio pack. Only had it since yesterday, but so far, I'm enjoying everything about it, aside from the slightly annoying media player which won't let me control the ipod from the touch screen when plugged in via a USB, but that's not really an issue!

My primary question involves the climate control; this is the first vehicle I've had which has had this function, and I've had conflicting advice from several friends in regards to fuel consumption.

Some have said that the climate control just being on will use fuel, one reckons that it will only use fuel if the air conditioning is on, which another doesn't think it will use any.

What is the general consensus on the subject? I'm thinking I'd want it more to heat the car up in while driving in winter - in summer, I'd just open a window! :)

As far as I know using climate control shouldn't affect how much fuel you use, only running the air con will affect your fuel economy.

In the summer with your window down though that will increase fuel consumption a little bit depending on speed :)

Technically using ANY electrical device will increase fuel consumption, so technically who every said this is correct, but it'll be so little you won't notice it.

Same applies with the AC is on also, you'll hardly notice any additional fuel consumption.

OP I'd just leave it in full AUTO mode, set your temp and away you go :)
