Hi Everyone,

I own a 2000 Fiat Punto Sporting 1.2 16V, ive had it for a few months now with only a few minor problems. One being the heater fan.

Here we go, when I turn on the heating (any speed setting) the side lights come on along with all other dash lights, but when I turn on the side lights from the stalk (heating off) the lights around the temp, speed setting and air vent changer dials dont come on. but the elec window buttns, city buttons etc... do.

Ive tried having the side lights on while turning the fan on but no luck. Also have looked under the passenger footwell for a loose connection. no luck. Ive spoke to an auto electrician and he mentioned something about a "module" around the glove box area? this could have gone.

Im wondering if anyone else has had this problem and managed to fix it. I just want it sorting out before the winter sets in!

Hi,

Ive tried fiddling round with some clips & plugs around the passenger footwell area but there are loads of different plugs! is there one specific plug im looking for?

There is one plug that looks to be going into a black unit which is very big? is this the heater matrix? Im not that well up on the whole auto electrician thing!

Could this all be down to a bad earth? Sometimes it works but when i turn the engine off or the heating off it rarely comes back on for a few days.

I know a few auto electricians that work at caledonia fiat but thay havnt experienced any problems yet, all they said was it could be the "module" which is a control unit board around the glove box area?

Its a 4 or 5 way connector(thick black wire is the problem one),sometimes it hangs loose sometimes it has a clip on it & clipped to heater fan box.Its up behind the glovebox at far left, pull the connector apart & chancesare the terminals for the earth connection are melted sometimes they are so bad you cant disconnect the connector.
