Hi all I am in the process of changing the clutch assy on my 55 plate punto has anyone done this as Haynes manual does not cover it. The clutch appears to have oil contamination and slips badly, I will find out from where when it is apart hopefully. Any help or advise would be much appreciated. Cheers sollie

Dualogics are robots operating a manual box
If they are thr same box as the manuals
Input bearing is failing amd playing causing seal to wear allowing fluid to spray over clutch

for that info gearbox is nearly out now so will soon know, if this is the case will I be able to replace the bearing and seal on my box do you think ? regards sollie (y)
 
Well the gearbox is out and to my great relief the input bearing to the gearbox is ok so is the oil seal. The clutch plate how ever is wafer thin, almost on the rivets. There was a little oil on the engine back plate behind the flywheel which I am convinced is from the rocker cover which has been leaking for a while now and running down that side of the engine block.. I have got a new clutch kit(a fiat part) and a new rocker cover gasket from ebay,so its now just a case of cleaning and painting some rusty areas on the sub frame nothing serious its just easier with the g/box out I have found my fiat dealership very helpful and have made a useful contact there, they have informed me that the setup of the new clutch would take about an hour for them to do.(this is also why I have used a genuine fiat clutch kit) So I have a busy weekend hope the weather stays fine. regards sollie
 
hi well the clutch is in and reassembled The problem is that when reassembling the near side suspension I found I have a broken spring so Im now waiting for a pair to come that I purchased from a site on ebay (hope they are ok)
 
well its all back together now complete with new cam cover gasket, new clutch and new near side front spring (bought matched pair will fit other one later ) I now need to reset the kiss point on the new clutch I want to do this myself if at all possible can anyone help please.

Sollie,

As far as. I am aware, to set the new clutch up on your box you have to use the multiecuscan software to let he system know where to set it up...... And at what point to Change gear etc..... I'm sure there isn't a manual ( or easier) way of doing so..... Sorry

You need MES..

Thanks Mad one and varesecrazy I have just been on multiECUscan site to see if their software is suitable still not sure, I have it down loaded for free but not tried it. Or is it MES I need oh for the good old days when the only electronics you had was the light switch ha ha have you used this then vcrazy. I am in Chatham kent. thanks for your replies cheers sollie

Well I still havnt sorted the punt out even though I have spoken to the software company who have recommended two programmes one costs £119 and the other £230. So I decided to talk to my local Fiat dealership how said there was no need to recalibrate the ecu and I probably have an airlock in the hydraulic system (WHAT!) so spoke to my local garage who gave me a quote originally to replace the clutch of £500 plus They said £42.00 to reset and if they were unsuccessful no charge so im thinking of getting it to them to have a go what do you guys thing? cheers sollies
