My alternator has given up the ghost and the casing has cracked so it's gotta be an exchange unit. This is where the problem gets tricky, all the motor factors i've been to only have a listing for a lucas one which i purchased, problem is when i fitted it and ran the car it is outta line with the crank pulley and it wearing away the belt. When i took it off the car then took it back and we compared the two units there is a difference in them ,but all the motor factors have them listed as the correct one.Anyway they can get the castings to make it fit but its gonna cost an extra £30 i begrudge paying just because they can't get it right, so i was wondering if anyone knew of any alternatives as i believe there is a bosch one or any other listings, suppliers etc that might help and save some money and get the right one. I have considered shimming it but would prefer a proper fit.The car is 1998 Fiat Punto Sporting 1.2 16v.
Cheers
