Hope somebody can advise - I've just replaced the clutch & noticed that when bolting the pressure plate to the flywheel, I could turn the entire plate round to continue bolting the other 5 and am almost certain-with hindsight- that the engine wasn't 'turning over'
Sadly, I didn't take much notice until I started her up thinking the job was done. All the gears select but absolutely no power to the wheels -have I attached a brand new clutch to a knackered 'dual mass' flywheel ?l:bang:

Secondly, there's a dual core wire attached to a loop at the rear of the bell housing but I haven't got a clue where the connector plugs into:cry:

Thank you- I thought about & checked the reversing lights. They work but still can't locate the female connector for a speed sensor .
The original clutch was slipping & when removed was worn 'down to the rivets' I was amazed that the car moved at all but any uphill gradient proved too much -rising revs accompanied by no increase in speed.
The replacement clutch is a 180mm CK9675 that had 6 shock springs where the original only had 4 - I checked the dimensions & everything appeared ok

Some clutch will chance the quantity of the torsional springs as they use different setups to reach the same as the OE

You didnt bolt the friction plate in backwards by anychance? as that could explain possibly no drive/

You have attached the slave cylinder back up correctly?

As for the female connector your looking for - the speed sensor is at the very bottom - its a direct fit onto that - it doesn't have a flylead

If your unsure - look in the Punto guides section - look for the guide - where everything is on the 8v engine
You'll see the speed sensor on the back of the gearbox :) so hope that helps

I've removed the slave cylinder completely & started her up, put it into gear and absolutely no drive
Thank you -the replacement was clearly marked 'gearbox side' & inserted correctly though I am at the point of dismantling it all & double checking

The cables are attached exactly as I found them - gears select - I got the wife to move the stick as I observed under the bonnet.

The slave cylinder 'test' i.e. removal was an act of desperation and my foot was on the brake pedal as I engaged a gear whilst the engine was running and no clutch used.

I've replaced clutches before yet this has totally mystified me. - I've done something wrong

I do appreciate the suggestions you guys have offered - as much as I loathe the prospect, I'm going to take it back down tomorrow & double check everything.

I didn't !!! will keep you all updated on the outcome when I strip it down & if this solves my problem will also give you an update on the part supplier's general well-being:devil:

Here's a new one on me - The friction plate centre has totally sheared ! I've checked the power output of my punto & must admit, I didn't expect 60BHP would be able to do that:mad:
I wonder where the plate was manufactured - certainly not where it says on the box !

Thanks for your suggestions guys, I was completely out of ideas(y)

Are you sure the clutch was alighned properly?
normaly when the centres smash out its down to alighnment or forcing the box back in,

if the plate as failed due to manafacture fault -send it back (y)
