I bought a 2001 X reg punto 1.2 8v recently and straight away wanted to start bringing it up to date, but hit a small problem lol...........

I bought a pair of Xenon H7 bulbs like the website said I needed for my car. When I came to fit them I have noticed the drivers side headlight has a H1 bulb installed and the passenger side has a H7! So now I have one headlight brighter than the other!!!!!

Can this be fixed by replacing one of my headlights or does the problem lay within the wiring loom?

Any help would be massively appreciated :)

When I pull the H1 headlight out the wire stays in place. The H1 wire only has 1 connection/terminal but the H7 has 2 connections.

Thank you ! That was one thing about my punto that was really bugging me !

Simple fix I thought it would be a whole wiring loom Bodge to change from h1 to h7 looks like ill be going scrappy Tommorow ! :)

Right so today I received my replacement headlights, both identical and both have matching xenon effect h7 bulbs and side lights...........

That passenger side dipped beam is still a crisp white with a hint if blue but the drivers side is also still an old yellow looking colour

2nd hand i assume?

Ensure that both lights are getting save voltage
if the good side is getting Say 14v and its clean and crisp

The yellow side is getting 10v, you know thats why

Make sure its all sat correctly, all the terminals are clean and secure

So you replaced the headlamp and still got the 'halogen look' ?
I'm no expert and you might find I'm completely wrong but just a few simple suggestions.

Is the xenon bulb new ? (The one in new headlamp)

Correctly aligned and adjusted? ( if light beam facing down won't give the desired effect surely?)

Steve

Yeah I can only guess now that it is to do with beam adjustment. I know how to tweak it but don't wont to make it worse and blind people!
