as above, from my members motor thread

ive bought a used , what i think is a HGT spoiler
problem is it has screws which are supposed to go through the back window

i only want the small bottom half of the spoiler ( top bit looks stupid with the light ) so i was going to cut off the screws (y)

but how do i stick it to the car as theres not alot of plastic to bond it to the car with

pics of it

to be honest i took a standard sporting spoiler off a damaged tailgate with the aim of re using it but as you say it has two bolts to fasten it through the rear screen
now personally i think its too heavy to be even using tiger seal on without these positive fasteners so i was going to keep the glass too ansd swap that to the car i was going to use it on but forgot to take it out

i would think carefully if i was you because there isnt much that you could be sure a tiger seal like product could stick to on the tailgate and so could come off at speed

just my opinion

i know what your saying as it is a very heavy spoiler
but i plan on spitting it, and takin the top part off to be just left with the small piece like i had on my last car

some one told me to cut off the screws, sand it down a bit and glue it on to the window ( instead of screws )

would that work? with a beading of adhesive around the top part to meet the end of the bootlid

remove the screws, then a bead of tigerseal around spoiler, I had to use 2 plastic washers between the glass and where the screws were, then held in place overnight with masking tape.

I couldn't get tigerseal at the time, so used an industrial glue, CT1

cool, i'll try that (y)
i'll get it painted up next week

have more important stuff to get done like the timing belt and w.pump (y)

Duuuuuuude wtf you got a spoiler on top of another spoiler for?? Is that so you can have downforce on your downforce you crazy mofo separate them

And the can be held on tigerseal mine lasted a year with tigerseal never fell off :D got mine for special btw if your interested ;)

tiger seal on the original spoiler will be fine, take that other thing off the top off it though it looks silly

of course now under new internet rules OP can print this off and keep it for any future claims when it goes to court for killing cyclist behind:D

Tigerseal aint that strong...I literally just pulled my spoiler off with one hand when I removed it lol and skirts just pulled straight off although the edges were tough and it won't come of the paintwork but has come of the plastics

It does seem solid on some applications but others more rubber like

Can recommend CT1, never used it myself though. The sales rep went to the wholesalers we use and stuck 2 medium sized paving slabs to the brick wall and they ain't for budging.
