As described in another post by me (It was suggested I start a new thread) I am looking to remove the induction kit that is currently on my car (for insurance purposes, I cant afford the quote, I'm already at £2300 for the year) and replacing it back to the stock one that came with the car.


The stock one has probably been sitting inside houses (mine + previous owners) for at minimum a year, should I be looking at replacing the guts of the air filter before putting it back on the car, or should I be looking at an alternate solution?

When you say replace the guts you mean the paper air filter, which might have been sitting for a year but you don't know how long it was in use before that.. For the sake of £8? Or whatever this would cost to replace, you might as well do so. It's not anything advanced or complicated it's a 30 second job

I'm already paid up for a year's insurance with Admiral, as a first time driver, I was expecting to hit the high-end bracket, i just never expected them to alter the quote by £300 just because of an induction kit

When you put it like that, you raise a very valid point, and well.... There's not much else I can say to that, thank you sir for proving logic always wins

£300 was all i paid for the whole policy with hic for a punto with a big long list of mods inc a bigger engine


what induction kit does it have?

I am unsure of the exact kit thats on the car, I can take a picture of it in the morning if you wish, will hopefully help narrow it down

lol thats not an induction kit just a twin cone filter bodged in, chuck it in the bin

dont chuck that black rubber pipe on the right in the bin, that is part of original kit
