Hi folks, i've got a mk2 2000 16valve elx punto. Just today i was coming back home and on my way i felt my car juddering as i accelerated so just changed down then felt it judering again.

Once i dropped it too second and tryed to accelerate there was hardly any power at all. Usually my cars pretty nippy but hardly anything was happening and my car was juddering whilst accelerating. Also when i arrived home i had a listen to it and it didnt sound quite right.

I just wondered what my problem would be, could it be spark plugs or HT leads? Or even head gasket?

Does it sound like its mis-firing or running on only 3 cylinders?

3 cylinders i think. Cant be to sure though

One way to test which cylinder it could be is to take off the ht leads to each cylinder one by one and see what difference it makes. Obviously if it makes the engine worse it isn't that one but if it dosen't change then you've found the culprit. Just be careful doing this as the leads can give you a real shock. This can also confirm wether or not it is the ignition system - if the ht lead makes a spark then its working. Hope this helps
