What can they really do to the car, im prity shure ive got one but when i read round most of the threads say you dont get warm air from the vents but i do:confused::confused::confused:

only thing that makes me think i do is there is a gushing sound from behind the dash when i gentley rev the car.

Also were is the second bleed valve, can see the first one on the left hand side of the rad. gonna have a go at flushing the system this weekend, as long as the rain stas off.

Forgot to say its a 1.2 16v sporting

Thanks
Mark

you will get warm air, one of the signs of air lock is the heater blows both hot then cold and so on

look at back of car behind and below the fuel injector rail ---two pipes running into bulkhead its on the left hand pipe

a couple of ways have been posted to bleed the system-- have a read at the various posts and see which you prefer

My mk1 Sporting has a bleed valve in both the heater pipes that disappear through the bulkhead. I changed my coolant at the weekend and didn't encounter any probs. Usually if you get an airlock it just takes a bit of time to chase it out of the system.

going by your username it looks like you have a 16v and its layed out differently to the more common 8v.,
the fact that you are getting warm air doesnt mean its not airlocked, try putting the heating on Full Hot, and let the car tick over, then rev it while holding your hand over the airvents, you should notice it getting hotter than it is when its ticking over.,

Yes its a 16v sporting

Yea it dose, air lock????, anyways gonna flush the sysmet sunday, if the rain stays away

Another thing makes me thing that that temp gauge, sat in trafic sits right in the middle, a few revs and it can drop to just a 1/4

Thanks

Your symptoms are identical to what happen to my Sporting 1.2 16v prior to it's head gasket failing. It eventually began to idle roughly on startup (after a few days of the gurgling and running cooler than usual), and then ran like a dog all of the time.

Well i flushed the cooling system yesterday, was an orange rusty coloured.... but now its fine, no sound of gurgling water, or the temp gauge moving when i rev her. so all seems fine............. untill next time:bang::bang::bang::bang::bang::bang:

the rusty colour can just be from people topping the coolant up with water all the time instead of 50/50 coolant/water so i wouldnt assume theres any damage as yet., if it starts to do it again id reccomend removing the thermostat and testing it in boiling water, it sound like the likely cause.,
