Punto (Mk2/2b) Fitting Reversing "Beeper" Sensors on a Punto Mk2

i was really tempted todo this mod myself

Also if you felt like you didnt wanna go into the wiring loom like that - you could always join into the gearbox reverse sensor - but it means trailing cables....

I am going to do the same tomorrow with my wife's Punto which is 5 doors so I am a bit concerned if there is enough space for the sensors above the black plastic.

Here is my update to this guide - it is not possible to mount the sensors at the same place as on the bumper of the 3-doors version because there is not enough space and the surface has round shape so your next possible locations are the black plastic stripe or between the plastic and the registration number as shown on my pictures. The distance from the ground is about 50 cm and the distance between the sensors is 39 cm because if you put it under the bumper's mounting holes it covers too narrow space.

i think the sensors are sprayable as well

In your cars case - i think you should

the black strip on the bumper does look good yes
But not the black dots for the sensors....

The whole bumper will be painted next week.

Here is the final vision with fresh paint of the bumper and the whole right side, front bumper and the roof.

Painted in the exact same colour - it looks 10x BETTER

Here you decided to fix the sensors under the black strip,Why didnt you try to fix it on the black strip, was it difficult to fix sensors there, because I am planning to fix sensors on black strip and yet to remove the bumper, please advice

I am sorry for the long deay - I haven't checked the forum for long time.
I decided to to mount the sensors below the black strip because the strip' shape is not flat and the sensor won't fully lay down. I also think the strip is the most common part to be destroyed if somebody stops at your bumper. I've already had some past experience with this so I decided to put them below the strip . They work perfectly! I've painted the whole bumper and now they look "genuine".

That is Ok ; I was able to fix the sensors in the black strip and they are working fine

Sorry , I don't have any pics to show the process . but remove the bumper as mentioned in the tread and then just drill the holes in the black strip , no need to remove the strip, it is very simple

Well, did it this afternoon.

Good to know, that it is not necessary to remove the bumper as shown in the guide. The sensors can be fitted in the black strip without taking the bumper off.

Well done Ormo. did not remove rear bumper in the end after squirting WD40 on each Screw/Bolt and checking for possible removal. However the rest of your guide was spot on, I did buy a kit from EBay for only £8.95 :- HOT 4 Parking Sensors LED Display Auto Car Reverse Backup... (111405514626) Free P & P. their sensors come in any colour you like, as long as it is white, and installed 1" bellow black strip, This also has a visual display which I attached to the roof lining at the back and as the display is upside down the attached sensor plugs do not require reversing. Ciao
