Newbie here! So long story short we recently bought a 2011 1.4 Punto Evo. We bought it as a second run around for my manual driving hubby with the plan of me driving it in the auto mode as I'm still a learner waiting for my driving test.

Hubby has been driving it in manual mode for the last week without many issues however I've been doing some reading (probably should have done it before)on the dualogic auto mode and it's got me worried to be quite honest. I've only ever driven fully auto (simple on, drive, neutral, park set up) and it seems I'm going to have to relearn to some degree how to drive the Punto in auto mode.

I've put off driving it up until now but hubby says I need to go out in it at some point this weekend so any tips would be much appreciated!!!

You can put it in full auto mode and drive it, there should be nothing to worry about or relearn.

To be honest if I ever drive an auto these days they almost always have some sort of manual mode where you can change gear yourself but it’s largely pointless and I don’t bother.

Most of these cars will change up or down gear in manual mode anyway to protect the engine and gearbox so really it’s just a bit of a gimmick and you don’t really have full manual control anyway.

You don’t need to worry about doing anything special

Thanks for the replies. I went out eventually and surprisingly it's wasn't too dissimilar to the "normal" autos I've driven. Think I was definitely overthinking it. Aside from not remembering to leave it in driv/1st when I parked up it was ok
