Occasionally when driving the car (2010 evo GP), the dash displayed a "boot open" message for a few seconds.

Now however, the red symbol of the door on the dash is constantly on. All doors are shut, the boot is closed, but the car thinks the boot is opened.

Also, when locking the car, instead of one long flash of indicators, I get 5 really short ones. I guess that's to do with the car thinking something is left opened.

The plan is to investigate the wiring around the boot lock, but how do I get to it? Is it easy to remove the plastics (haven't had a look yet)? Is there anything else I can check?

Cheers,
d.

100% sure everything is locked. Haven't got the diagnostic software but i had a look and it looks really simple to take it off.

Andy
found your guide looks relatively easy, found a lock on ebay so I'll have a go.

Thanks

Didn't open it in the end and sprayed wd40 through the straw into the lock where possible.

If the problems return, I'll be taking it apart.

i’m having the same issue with my 2013 Jet Black edition 😂 i’ve opened it & sprayed WD40 on the locked hinge & no difference. i have an OBD diagnostic, would that show any codes do you reckon?

As suggested in the thread likely the microswitch in the boot lock is broken or dead. you may need to take it apart to see what the issue is, or just replace it.
