My heater swith on my 2010 evo will now only work on fan speed 4.
Has anyone else had this?

Stef

On my last Punto, it wasnt the resistor pack but the push connector under the glove box.
Contacts are not man enough to carry the full amperage. They were black and charred, cleaned with a finger nail file and problem cured

Just an update. I have fitted a replacement resistor really an easy job after learning it's location on the site. Now 4 speeds yipee:)

Update on my previous post, 5/10/2013
Problem returned
I now find the plug that goes into the resistor pack has melted on pins 4 and 5, resulting in either no speed on 4 or permanent speed on 4 where the two wires are now touching.
I see the cost of the cheapest plug I can find on Ebay is about £26
You can avoid this exorbitant charge by using the following method:-
(a) Take out resistor pack and thoroughly clean up the pins with emery paper
(b) solder wires about 6" long onto each of these pins, making sure the wires on 4 and 5 are sufficient to carry the heater amperage. On these two I used single 1.5mm wires from a 13a 240v cable
Use a nylon tie to strap them all together to give support so their is no strain on the soldered connections
(c) now cut of the plug
(d) join the plug wires and the resistor wires with simple inline plastic screw connectors
(e) refit resistor pack into bodywork

Job done, cost = pence

Yes, the resistor packs are cheap, but its the connector/plug that seems to cost a fortune
I am convinced the same socket and connector are used on a VX Corsa D, but they dont seem to suffer the same problems as the Punto.

It does (sisters workmate had it happen to her with her corsa last winter) ;) why do you think VX released a loom repair kit for the heater ;)

Ok, point taken.
I only mentioned that my family has 3 Corsa D`s and not one failed with this problem
Obviously very lucky then
