powerbox 2 engine chip

Hi everyone.
I have just purchased a POWERBOX 2 chip for my EVO 135 multiair. I'm unsure as whether it was a good purchase or not?.
All started well Powerbox are an italian company who advertise a chip designed for the Punto EVO 135 turbo. Perfomance is increased to a respectable 165bhp and just plugs in. (Not bad at £120)..
When it arrived the instructions were very limited and in broken english. the images and instructions were for the Alfa mito, Punto 1.4 T-jet and Punto Abarth. I sent an e-mail to confirm this chip was compatable for the new multiair engine and not the t-jet.
After a few E-mail exchanges I was told the engine is the same as the abarth and should be connected in the same way.If unsure please get installed by a trained mechanic..
I installed the chip to the limited instructions and the led illuminated green to show install was correct. There are 10 settings 0-100 to choose from and the instruction recommend best results are between 30 - 60. However the car began to bog down at low speed and turbo boost limited. at 0 the car ran fine but felt no quicker than usual. The ECU light is on dash and the stop start is no longer working. The best setting was at 20. 50-80mph was very impressive but again low speed accelateration was compromised.
Has anyone had any experiance with this chip or any advise.

For what its worth I drive an Evo Abarth now and our unit works great on it. I've done over 2000 miles with it on and no issues, only problem I had was couldn't get it dyno'd as the traction control won't turn off and as soon as you try to accelerate on the dyno it cuts in. Even tried disconnecting the ABS ECU but then it won't start

Re: powerbox 2 engine chip

HI EVERYONE

I posted a thread a few weeks ago regarding the Powerbox 2 chip advertised on EBAY for the 135 evo sporting. I have tried serveral times to get this chip to work.

WARNING TO YOU ALL- DO NOT BY THIS PRODUCT!!!!!

This chip does not increase the performance - it disables the stop start and cruise control and brings up the ecu engine faliure light on dash.
The car never ran properly on any of is 10 pre set maps.

I have tried to get a refund which they won't give. so I'm looking at legal action under the sale of goods act.

PLEASE DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY ELSE YOU WILL BE OUT OF POCKET TO..

Re: powerbox 2 engine chip

The thing is, the multiair engine has a TOTALY different control unit from the tjet one (the tjet has a Bosch unit while the multiair has magneti mareli if I'm not mistaken). I think it is totaly normal that this unit didn't work on a multiair engine. Has anyone tried it on a tjet ?? I know that the TMC is a good solution, but 300 quid versus 100 makes a mighty difference !!!

Re: powerbox 2 engine chip

A little off topic but a question for the TMC rep, why does your piggyback box have the different settings on it? Surely there's one optimum fuel and ignition map for the standard hardware, pretty much the maps the Abarth has!

Hi, because its used around the world and in some very hot countries it needs to be turned down a bit, rather than having to post it back to us for re-programming the owner can do that himself in a few seconds, the up adjustment is for people who add other parts like exhaust and induction who want a bit more power.

£100 quid isn't much use though if it won't work and you can't get a refund, its then gonna cost you £100 + another £300 to get a unit that works

I see. So is there a recommended setting for the UK with a standard setup?
