Hi, I'm looking for a bit of advice about the problem I'm having with my van.
The van wouldn't start last week. Called AA and they said the glow plugs and relay were faulty. I've had the glow plugs replaced and also fitted a new relay. The van starts fine now. The problem is with the amount of time the relay supplies power to the glow plugs.
When the ignition is on there is power to the glow plugs for about 45 seconds before the power is cut. When the engine is running it appears that the power to the glow plugs does not switch off (I've held the tester there for over 2 minutes with the engine running and there is still power present at the glow plugs).
My question is:-
How long should the relay supply power to the glow plugs before switching off?
a) with just the ignition on.
b) after the engine has been started.
The relay has been replaced and the part number on the relay unit is PSA 9639912580 and the part number on the Fiat Invoice is 1348881080.
Any advice will be appreciated.
Thank you.
