Hi All,
So. The bulb of my gear stick in my 09 Fiat Panda Eco Dynamic kept coming off when I was driving, so as a solution I super glued it back on.

HOWEVER, now, when I go to put it in reverse the skirt doesn't pull up as high as it used to, so it can be a little tricky to get it into reverse. It doesn't make a loud noise or anything, but I have to feel it into reverse a lot more than I did, rather than just not thinking about it.

I tried to get a knife under the bulb to ping it off so I could re do it but it is well and truly stuck on. So two questions, how much is my mistake going to damage my gear box from now on? And, any ideas how to get the bulb off so I can re do my work?!

Thank you :D

Reverse is protected by a gate so you can't accidentally engage it. Lifting the ring under the gear knob clears that gate so you can select the reverse gear. Actual gear selection happens well after the lever has gone past the gate.

If you can feel and find the gate until slots through, then all is fine. The gears themselves won't care, but if you have to force it through or another less careful driver uses the car then you'll have to move that gear knob.

Ordinary gear knobs are 2-1/2p at a breakers so you could cut the old one off and replace.

lift the skirt with its retaining ring from the console and either stretch it or simply replace it with one from ebay at minimal cost.

One of the first things I did when I bought my Panda was replace the gear lever skirt as the original was holed.
