Hi I'm new to the forum, I've had my Panda Dynamic for 2 and a half years now and its been a beauty but just recently I've noticed a strange issue and wondered whether anyone had had anything similar.

I'd noticed in the cold weather at the beginning of the year when I went to start my engine sometimes it wasn't starting straight away. Which I assumed was natural given the cold but when the engine finally started the clock and all the electrical items inside reset I thought it a bit weird. This has happened now and again but only when starting the car so hasn't been an issue. Today however it happened whilst driving, it was as if the engine had turned off because the speedo and all the other readers fell to zero and the clock reset all over again. The engine was still going and aside from a strange noise I don't think I would have noticed if I hadn't have glanced down. Anybody else experienced anything like this? Any ideas as to what it might be?

I don't profess to be a car expert by any stretch of the imagination so probably will just end up taking it to the garage but wanted to get the heads up on what might be affecting it.

Thanks for any advice you can offer!

Emm

I'd say it's might be time to change your battery. Modern cars generally, and Pandas in particular, are somewhat fussy about the battery being up to scratch.

It only needs to be a millivolt below the critical value to trigger all manner of seemingly random electrical faults.

It could also be something as simple as a bad earth, so check the obvious first.

Well a weak battery issue shouldn't be apparent during normal driving, generally just hesitant on starting particularly after a cold soak overnight. Of course it might depend on what electrical load was on when driving...

You could wait for the cold weather to finally end and see if you get another 6 months out of the battery, to be honest that's what I'd do but you can probably at least get it checked somewhere for free.
