Hi Guys!

My 2006 100HP has developed an awful buzzing sound when I unlock the car. Its a short sharp buzz that lasts about a second. Its really loud and quite embarassing in car parks. It sounds to be coming from the drivers side rear door. All the doors lock and unlock as normal, just with this hideous sound.

Any suggestions?

I guess there are some small mercy's in car problems as it leads me to the forum and I get to join in the fun!

Hope to get some pics up and profile sorted soon!

I'd suggest a duff lock solenoid. Try to open and close the door a few times, lock and unlock it from the handle on the inside door and see if it still happens.

Also see if it is actually locking when the rest of the doors do...

I hoped this might work but sadly not. I'm not really having any luck with this problem. It is locking the door as normal, its just the noise.

Does anyone else have any suggestions?

I still havent got this fixed yet!

Does anyone have any clues?

Does anyone know how to get the rear door trim off? I've found two screws at the bottom, and an allen key bolt in the centre, and one right by the locking handle. I must be missing something though as the trim's not coming off.

:bang:

I have exactly the same problem but with the front passenger door. After trying a few things I've worked out the following:

It only happens on an unlock
The central locking itself is working fine
I locked the car from inside holding the handle thing and no noise was heard (obviously this will stop the central locking from working on that door)
The noise isn't coming from the locking mechanism, it's definitely coming from where you pull the lever to open the door.

It just started happening yesterday without and warning at all and here's the best bit:

My warranty seems to be for two years from first registration, car was first registered in June 2008 ... amazing how it waits for the warranty to expire!

But anyway, did you have any luck getting it sorted?

James

The car comes with a three year warranty from new. The first two years of warranty are manufacturer supplied, but there is a third year dealer supplied warranty.

It shouldn't be a wear and tear issue so I don't see why they wouldn't investigate and attempt to fix the problem.

Can't help with the buzzing itself, sorry!

Thanks chauspain :)

I bought my car from Mangoletsi in Cheshire but I live in Essex. Would I be able to get my local dealer to look into it for me?

Thanks

James

I had a similar issue on my rear passenger door - locking/unlocking fine but with a buzzy/squeeky noise. I mentioned it at the second service, when the 100HP was around 15 months old, just imagining it'd need a dab of oil or something, but it turned out to need a replacement part (circa £68 if my memory serves) and was dealt with under warranty without any fuss.

Thanks for that skyhook - I'll try that :)

I'm kind of hoping that I'll be able to get my local dealer to do the work. The noise is driving me nuts!
