Hey!

The shocks on my '05 Panda 1.1 went earlier this week and I just got a quote there this afternoon and was quoted €300 for a pair. Just wondering whether this is the norm for Panda shocks as it seems quite pricey to me...

Is that why they're called "shocks"?
Someone's 'avin a larf, for sure, go get quotes elsewhere - if it was for all four and included fitting, maybe, otherwise it's way too much.

i think it includes fitting, but even so seemed a little bit "steep" to me. i'm going to keep phoning around, but if anyone happens to know what a reasonable price is for them i'd appreciate the clue in! thanks guys...

£47 in VAT for a pair for my mk2 Panda, and fitted them myself. Really easy! (I assume they're the rear?)

looks to be front to me. that's the end that's swimming...

O. I don't knwo much about the front's. I would also get a mechanic do fit them rather than do them myself as they're a little more difficult I think.

Hope you find them cheaper some where.

Jon.

They are McPherson struts, so although it will be easy to get the struts out, you'll need a vice and a spring compressor in order to swop out the dampers.

Have a phone around and see if you can get hold of some boge shocks..oem for vovo and audi cars and their first class..

Assuming you mean Volvo, their OEM shocks are garbage, very short life and poor damping.

This isn't to say that Boge aftermarket shocks aren't good it's just how OEM kit is. Tyres are another good example, OEM versions are often woeful compared to what seems the same tyre supplied in the aftermarket. Mostly down to the price manufacturers will pay I would assume!

What mileage has your car done? I'm hoping not to touch my shocks untill at least 80,000miles. There was a lady on here the other day with an Active which needed shocks at 24,000!!!!

JON

she's done just under 50000km, but in Ireland the roads are not only full of speed bumps, but are ripped up every month or two for gas/electricity/water works due to there being no proper underground system!
