Snowy up here in Northumberland and travelling up our snowy road I could feel the Traction+ working and reducing throttle. All going well. At the drive I decided to back in “up” the drive and in reverse we got nowhere and did not feel the Traction+ or see lights flashing. Just made it off road and safe. Good.
I I had driven forwards up the drive I guess Traction+ would have worked and got us further up the drive? Does Traction+ work when reversing?
I asked a Fiat dealer and they were very helpful and went away to check but couldn’t confirm if it did work when reversing. Anyone know?

Thanks very much for the response. I agree that I think it only works in the forward gears. I can't quite put my finger on why I think it won't work on these two wheel drive cars in reverse but it is something to do with the computer having to have a baseline understanding of what is slip and in that there is an implied direction.
Many say turn off Traction+ in snow so that you can get the throttle open as much or as little as you want. That's what we used to do before these devices. Same with cadence braking instead of ABS.
I'll drive up slippery slopes and use gravity to get me back down in future!

Theory says that in reverse a FWD car should have better traction than going forward due to weight transfer.
A rear engined RWD car is the opposite and has better traction going forwards.

Int old days, those of us who used to have Alfasuds or SAABs used to click the (front wheels) handbrake half-on to trick the diff into driving both wheels.

TractionPlus simply looks for a difference in wheel speed between the two driven wheels. If one slips, it nips the brake a bit to stop the spin to give the other drive. In theory this can work in reverse too. The handbook doesn't specifically say (see page 62 image below)

Certainly the 4x4 models do have 4x4 in reverse (detected by the same process, but then using the signal to engage the rear diff).

Thanks for that page from the manual. On the other current thread “Wheel Skid Warning” on ASR that you have shown the manual page it looks like Traction+ is pretty much the same as AntisSlipRegulation.
Nothing definitive as yet as to whether it works in reverse though it clearly could via software being told whether it is forward/reverse gear engaged.
Must test this out on snow or wet grass.

I must admit there seems to be little difference in the description of ASR and Traction+ But, I think the subtle difference is that ASR is there to impede your progress, while Traction+ wants you to get going. And, Traction+ only operates up to 30kmh, but ASR can (I believe) intervene at higher speeds than that.
