New panel then. 200 for the young lady to pay.
I wouldn't waste any energy on feeling sorry for the woman either. Her excuse is bull****. Any driver needs to be responsible for his or her actions and if she wasn't fit to drive, she shouldn't have been. Just rewrite this scenario only place your wife on a pushbike, not in a car.

The part is on order. How come it's me that's feeling bad about it

Don't think of it as essential surgery, think of it as giving her a bottom lift

But that'll just be the cause of more wobbly legs, surely?

Oh, you meant the car? Silly me!

Re: Panda Cross - violated rear end

Speaking of feeling bad, I noticed a fresh ding on the side of my car on Saturday in an odd position just under the passenger side rear window. Coincidentally it had just been in for a service! No proof but seriously annoying.

Re: Panda Cross - violated rear end

I had the same on my previous car. I scratched my head over how they could have dented it there, and concluded that someone must have allowed the long arm of a trolley jack to fall back onto the car. Made a mental note to photograph it all round before taking it into the workshop next time - and never to go back to that particular garage.

Good idea!

Whenever I rent a car, I always take a video of it on my phone. I walk around slowly. That way, they can't blame you for that scuffed wheel, paint chip etc. that they have made the previous 10 drivers pay for!

Am I being cynical?

Nope. Cos I do the same. And when Hertz tried it on, I showed them the beautifully sharp images I'd taken when the car was picked up. Basically, if you do not take out supercover, they will try to screw you.

G'day mate and welcome to the forum,
I know how frustrating it is to find something like that. I don't know the answer and it's 36C outside so I'm not going out to look until it cools down a bit (mid summer here in Australia). Maybe someone else can help in the meantime.

(and if a moderator moves the original post, please move this reply as well )

Good news. The panel is in & it's being fitted while I wait on Friday

The lady is keen to give us the money & has been lovely about it all.

Keep the old one as a spare, you could experiment and respray the whole thing yourself with a satin paint or whatever

Re: Panda Cross - violated rear end

Good to hear.

Good advice about keeping the old panel too - you can never have too many useless bits of motorcar cluttering up the shed

Seriously, YOU might be the one who damages the panel next time and this may get you out of trouble.

Re: Panda Cross - violated rear end

All done

Quick question though.

The trim panel in the boot around the lock receiver.

Are the two Allen bolts covered with screw covers?

Grateful if someone could post a picture please.

TVM,

Re: Panda Cross - violated rear end

If you mean the silver inverted 'U' shaped catch set in the bottom panel, then no
the allen bolts aren't capped....on mine anyway.
The felt inner panel fixings are all capped, or are the black plastic type push
fittings.
