General Another Panda Cross ordered

I'd argue the toss - if they quibble, which they may not - that you ordered the car on the basis that there was a £3250 contribution. Unless they expressly told you before you ordered that the £3250 contribution wasn't guaranteed post 31/12/14, I'd argue that they are obliged to honour it.

Agreed. When I ordered my Cross I asked the same question & my dealer said that the deal was from the time of ordering not delivery. I hope this helps.

Ok, bear with me on this one. My previous car was a black Mk3 Panda which I owned from 2007 to 2012 and decided to change for reasons I can't quite remember. There wasn't much on the market at the time that held my interest and wasn't too keen on the the then recently launched Mk4 panda or, to be honest, the lack of available discounts. The other household car is a Fiat 500 so thought I would try another brand for a change. So I decided on an Audi A1 which, to be honest, is an impressive piece of engineering that is quiet, refined and gets down the road extremely well with much German efficiency.

Anyway that's a potted history of my recent car ownership. So this weekend, Audi had a once in a lifetime offer to swap me out of my current A1 into a new fully specced 5 door A1 s-line, bells and whistles galore.

I arrived too early at Audi and, to waste some time, decided to visit the local Fiat garage and take a twinair cross out for a spin on a mix of urban roads, dual carriageway and b-roads. An hour later, out in the A1 with 2 cylinders and 50bhp more, drove pretty much on the same test route.

So the question is do I stick with what I've got or switch to the one that was comfortable, well built, well-equipped, didn't rattle or creak, had feedback through the steering telling me what the wheels were actually doing and left me grinning from ear to ear after driving it?

Thanks for the feedback. I'm not suggesting the Panda is the "better" car but the test drives were interesting comparisons of character versus detached engineering. I was genuinely impressed with the Cross, the manner and noise of power delivery from the twinair engine although did manage to find the rev limiter sneak up on me a couple of times.

Does your part of Scotland get much in the way of nasty weather?

It's not unknown for nasty weather where I live (which is on the east coast of Scotland) but uncommon for the local roads to be genuinely undriveable. 5-10 miles inland with some elevation change and it's a different story but there isn't anywhere I generally need to go where a sensibly driven car on winter tyres would have too many difficulties.

Just had the Privilege email through. There's a extra £400 contribution on the 4x4/Cross taking it to £3400. Seriously thinking of chopping mine in as that will more than pay off the negative equity and still leave a handy deposit.

So was it a sweetener from the dealer, or is it official Fiat dosh?

Perhaps they reckon that if they don't shift their existing stocks of 4x4 / Cross before the end of March, they may be more difficult to shift over the summer, when our thoughts tend to wander away from coping with snow etc.

I haven't pushed the button yet as 'er indoors decided she wanted a new kitchen, and they are stupidly expensive :(

I'll probably now stick with my DS3 for another 6 months, as I've just put it through its MOT and 60k service, and in any event I'll be using my B from April-September (weather permitting) so a new car would just be sitting unused until the Autumn.
