weber fuel issues?... maybe you need a better pump

I found this on another forum but it is quite appropriate that i re-post it here.

It's a pump that is supposed to be the best partner for the weber carbs, but more importantly points out at the end of the article about some pumps being completely useless for the application. I was just wondering if the pump Jim had fitted was of this variety.

link one...
and the same product but cheaper same... here.

if anyone knows of a place selling these in the UK... give a shout.

Re: weber fuel issues?... maybe you need a better pump

Well, they were more problems I had while setting up the regulator. It's ok 90% of the time but very light throttles are a bit jerky and I'm getting carb iceing in the mornings (Like it's feckin April!!! ) and the web page that tony's post was about suggests that the regulator will put a strain on the pump that will lead to it's failure...

I was worried about that then something else went bang this morning so it's all pretty unimportant now

That sounds bad... cars don't normally go bang even when provoked.

Sorry to hear that your epic tales continue on their own volation...

Re: weber fuel issues?... maybe you need a better pump

Another new fuel pump and some new wiring and she'll be as good as new.

I think this is fuel pump No5 now which should be a record for 9mths of panda ownership! lol

(much more cheery now we know what the problem was, and that it's fixable)

You made me think the car had gone up in flames DON'T DO THAT

What about the mechanical pump & cam that I gave Stu as the carb sounds OK.

Re: weber fuel issues?... maybe you need a better pump

I'm going to stick to electric for the time being as the engine is sweet and I don't want to cause more problems trying to fix the ones we've got.

But who ever's idea it was to wire the pump to the live side of the coil and not fit a relay or a fuse needs shot....

We're just lucky we caught it in time before there was a big bang

you going to try and find someone who send you one of those constant pressure ones? or go for another pulsing motor?
