but those wheels do really suit it. They look better on the Y10 than they do on a Monte
That is what I think likewise, one of the weridest and in my opinion ugliest models of cromodora looks great on your y10!:D

I still prefer the Y10 :p

Plus don't think I've said it (or at least not enough) but those wheels do really suit it. They look better on the Y10 than they do on a Monte (y)

I think they work because they are an odd combination of gently curving flatness and angles. A lot like the car! Needs bigger tyres really to fill the arches. The 155/70s off the steelies was a great way to get them on the car quickly but they look a little 'skinny'

Yep she looks mint! - Love the alloys. Did your Y10 originally have a black tailgate then?

Ta (y) Mines always had a white tailgate. The Fila was the exception to the black tailgate rule> White boot lid, red seats, adjustable steering column, leccy windows and central locking. Even a car phone, though sadly that's long gone. They also came in all black bodywork and some had blue seats rather than red.

I had 1.0 fire engine in my 127 mk1, taken from white wrecked fila, and the seats were blue :) There wre also bright green and yellow seats avialable, but in LE , not fila.

Bit like this unfortunate example. :(

Been a bit of a ballsed up week in general so decided to cheer myself up with a bit o tinkering.

Its a strut brace I have owned for probably 10 years and up till now didn't think would fit a Fire engined Y10. A previous trial fit hadn't gone well and id written it off as only meant for the non crossflow Turbo & Gtie motors.

Seeing Dave had a very similar 'bent' strut brace I thought i'd give it another go. The clearance on the back of the carb is microscopic but just about ok I think. The problem is one end of the brace doesn't fit the strut tower. Not the bolt pattern suprisingly but it doesn't sit on the strut tower properly. The first foto shows it best. It leaves the strut tower at the wrong angle to meet the other part of the brace. Looks like shoddy workmanship myself but suggestions welcome on how to resolve this :) So near yet so far

The one that I have is a Sparco number but isn't adjustable. When I tried to fit it I had two similar problems 1) zero clearance to the inlet manifold 2) required some persuasion with the universal tool in everyones' tool box (yes a hammer) to make it sit down on the top of the struts.

It looked good once it was on but the vibration that was transmitted from the engine via the strut brace meant it had to come off unfortunately.

I'll try some corrective surgery with a hammer and maybe a trolley jack. I'm determined to get this strut brace on somehow especially after I heard how that red A112 on the other fiats section was transformed by fitting one. If the carb hits from the engine rocking around il breakout the grinder and welder

Will be really interesting to see your y10 at panda camp :)

Cheers Cameron, it will need some serious tarting up before then. I hope it doesn't disappoint too much.

Of course it won't! :)

I am worried about PTP dissapointing though, I believe some of the attendees have seen him before and not sure how he will compare now!

As everything is coming out of my y10 engine bay at the moment i might try to get the Sparco one on mine (y) I think the crazy bend is only there to allow the spare wheel to still fit. However mine has long since been replaced by a can of tyre glue stuff :yuck:

Been doing some emergency surgery. This way hopefully petrol spills from the cap will be a thing of the past.

Don't you just love the way y10's have found new and different places to rust?

I too amlooking forward to seeing another y10 - it's gone very quiet on the Gertie thread so I don't think I'll be making it to camp in it :(

However trailing arms are now fitted to Fizzle so at least I'll be in a Panda! :)

Boo no Gertie but yay fizzle! I feel like I will be meeting a celebrity! :)

They are pretty terrifying in their ability to oxidise. Lulus greed for welding wire seems almost insatiable. I'd like to have seen dirty Gertie she sounds like a bit of a goer :yum:

Nice repair! Your Y10 has trained you well in the ways of the welder!

Its like all old Italian cars. A mistress not a servant. This may be getting repetitive but more welding fotos.
