Morning, i read somewhere about a straight swap to a 6 speed gearbox from an Alfa to my 1.9jtd? Is it possible?

Not aware of this one- there are some threads looking at larger engine which may have information on it. 2.4 litre I think. Let us know if you find anything.
An engine remap works well on these and makes 4 th and 5 th longer as more grunt on motorways.

The OP put a lot of information about Multipla conversion work on the Polish forum. Last time I looked though, all I seemed to get were 404 dead links. Wayback machine might help there, but you'd need a URL, and any pictures will probably be missing.
 
A simpler alternative is to fit the higher 5th gear pair from another Fiat (Punto?). I've got the details and part numbers somewhere - seem to recal it raises top by about 7-8% so makes cruising on the motorway less buzzy. Works well with a remap. There's also a how-to somewhere on here. It's a pretty simple swap from what I can remember - you don't even need to remove the gearbox. Getting hold of the gears might be a challenge nowadays...
