Hi Just had mine blanked off and it has transformed my 115 JTD I thought it went well before but now!!!!!!!!!!!!
I was too lazy to make my own blanking plate so I bought one one bay.
Get it done the results are great

Do you just put the blanking plate between the Egr valve and the manifold, or do you remove the Egr and block the hole...

I removed the gasket between the egr and manifold, laid it on some tin and cut out a blank.
Then replaced both.

:)

Search EGR valve blanking, loads of info.

Just blanked mine off after 130K miles, before it was struggling to rev clean past 3k, now steams along and hits 6K plus, no warning lights. Happy.

Put some cardboard under the car to catch everything you drop. Undo two bolts on the end of the crinkly silver pipe at the egr valve end (on the right side as you look at it), use a socket set with the correct allen head, I found it too tight too tight for a regular allen key, take out the alloy gasket and make a new one without the hole in it, reverse the undo procedure, simples.

King Prawn Ring.

Try looking on the Vauxhall forums, relatively few Multi's have this engine, however the engine was common to a lot of GM cars and there should be a wealth of knowledge (Although they are Vauxhall drivers:ROFLMAO:)

Did mine today while I had the cover off to check the Tappet clearances.
Decided to fit blanking plates to both ends and remove the pipe completely.

I just reused both gaskets, they still had enough shape to them.

Would this having just been left put the car down on power and make it harder to start . By this I mean the egr valve as I seem to have layed my hands on a multi diesel

Just changed the EGR valve for an ebay sourced version (advertised as Fiat Croma Stilo Punto Sedici EGR Valve 1.9 CDTI 8V 55215032 120BHP with Gaskets, £68.50) - seems identical to original except for the angle of the electrical connector on the end.
Cleared fault codes, took car for short run, seems fine.... so far.........thanks for everyone's help!

Been a week since I disabled mine, wish I'd done it when I first got it!
Pick-up from idle is a bit crisper, seems a bit more 'eager' to accelerate at low revs (I rarely go past 2000rpm anyway).

Tried cleaning the EGR valve to no avail and was thinking about blanking it off then my daughter dropped her phone in the bath so I bought some
Isopropanol 99.9% Pure. to clean and disperse the water. When it occurred to me that this stuff has powerful cleaning properties so I took the EGR valve off filled it up with the Isopropanol for half an hour then scrubbed it out with a tooth brush and it came up like new. It has worked fine for the last three months. You get it on ebay for a few quid just make sure its 99.9% pure.
