Re: My New (to me) Evo called Eva

Why do you struggle to grasp the fact that some people really aren't bothered about having a flash car?

And there's nothing wrong with being content. Just because I'm not greedy/materialistic, that doesn't mean I'm not ambitious...

You see rather than bothering to read what I was writing (I was actually trying to engage in a sensible conversation) you did what you always do and immediately repeated your usual mantra of

ďmy car is the best car in the world for what I need and there is no reason ever now or in the future to want or even consider anything elseĒ

No one mentioned ďflashĒ cars and if I was bothered about driving or being seen in a flash car, do you honestly think Iíd go and buy a beat up 11 plate punto, especially when I still have my golf?

If you were remotely open to having a normal discussion on the subject, you may also be open to the possibility that in 5 or 10 years time, you might want a panda, or you might just as easily want/need a people carrier? You might meet a partner who does want more than having a car that is Ďadequateí or you might think in a few years time, ďIíve worked hard and put a few quid away, maybe Iíll treat myself to an Alfa Romeo or similar.

Stop taking any attempt at a conversation as some personal attack on you and your car, and also while youíre at it, stop assuming that everyone who drives what you deem to be a ďflashĒ car does so as some sort of motoring one upmanship, if I had wanted a ďflashĒ car I would not have bought a VW Golf, I could just have easily bought a Merc or a BMW or even a Porsche Boxster.

If someone gave me the keys to a fiesta, or a Ferrari, would happily drive both without giving it a second thought, as would many people, you seem to think that to accept anything above what you have is somehow betraying what you have.

A prime example is someone like James May, who you profess to look up to, he drives a panda, yes and he has no problems in doing so and has owned one for years, he appreciates its honesty and itís simplicity.... he also owns/has owned a Bentley, rolls Royce, Ferrari and Porsche, and if you follow him on drive tribe has just picked up the keys to a new Renault Alpine at however much they cost.

Iím not a devotee punto fan, I am a car fan and like all cars, this is a car forum for people who like cars, plenty of people on here own fiats but they also own other cars as well, Fiat is not a religion or a political movement. Itís just a maker of cars, like many others, the world is big and you are far too young to be already limiting yourself and saying ďthis is all I want now for the rest of my lifeĒ you donít have to want or lust after material things, but you can be open to the possibility that what you have isnít necessarily all you will ever want or need.

Re: My New (to me) Evo called Eva

How else am I meant to interpret it when we're talking about Puntos, and I say I want another 1 next, largely because I'm very pleased with my current 1, and your reply is basically saying that I'm trying to convince meself that I'm satisfied, and that I have no ambition, and that my expectations are low? That is pretty much saying that you think I should get something that you consider to be better.

With regards to my needs having changed when the time comes to trade the Grande in, I did actually say that if I needed a bigger car at that point, I'd buy a Tipo...

Go back and read again, at no point did I say you should get something better, what I actually was saying was if youíre happy with your current car then there is no point in upgrading it to a newer punto as you wouldnít gain anything to do so.. You took that as your usual opportunity to repeat your go to mantra.

Now, if you canít see anything more than owning a punto for the rest of your life then you have nothing Iím interested in talking about. You have your own thread where you repeatedly go on about how your car is the most perfect car in the whole world. Please donít bring that over here, because iím not interested, and youíre incapable of having a rational or reasoned conversation, without taking offence, I can have far more fun talking to a flat earther.

I'll only be parting with my Grande when it starts being problematic, hence why there'll be a point to buying a newer 1. I have been torn between a Punto and a Panda: Pandas are wicked little things!

Was the wiring already there in the boot for the 12v socket or did you have to do it from scratch? Iím sure Iíve read that the wiring for the socket is there, but no socket is supplied from factory, but the whole for it is there.

Iíve had a look today and cannot find the wiring in my Punto Evo GP.

Re: My New (to me) Evo called Eva

The wiring was already there, this was a high spec car from the factory, so there is also wiring for rear parking sensors present as well as having the boot subwoofer

Ah okay, thanks. Was the wiring hidden/taped into the main loom or was it loose hanging about, just like the boot light wiring?

The wiring was wrapped up in foam and tape to stop it rattling, itís worth exploring to see if itís there, quite difficult to see because of being wrapped up

Hi .
Having been down the route of the power supply being present for the basic 12v socket being present in Pandas (alongside gearstick)

It really is pot luck.

Some have a live cable

Some just need a cable

Others need a different fuse board..!!

Never looked in my punto boots :/

Iíve done a little digging and unravelled some wires yesterday to see if I can find it but the rain has stopped me searching for now.

Only gone as far as around the wheel arch area, but it may be further away so will be looking tomorrow weather prevailing.

If I find it Iíll make a thread so people can find it easier.

If itís not there, I may try fitting one myself, if itís easy enough.

If it was there, it would be in that photo, I’d say yours doesn’t have the wiring present

Re: My New (to me) Evo called Eva

Finally got round to changing the very broken fog light yesterday.

New lamp, new bulb but still not working, confirmed the lamp bulb and part of the wiring tested by putting it on the other side. So am going to have to pull the car apart to track down the fault
