Hi,

I've got a Punto MK2 and realised as of today that my MOT expired just over a month ago!!!!

I'm going to book an MOT for it but do you think it is safe to drive on short trips until then?; I need to to get to college and work.

Also for any experts: My alloy has bent slightly and there is quite a large dent in the tyre; although it isn't deflating; will this be a fail?

What Davren said, if you drive it to anywhere other than the testing station then you are breaking the law, these days with ANPR you only need to drive past a police car and you could find your self in hot water as tax, insurance and MOT is all checked electronically and in seconds. and the key there is "Pre booked" you can't just rack up. this is to prevent people getting caught then saying they were really taking it for an MOT, if you can't prove you'd pre booked then you're still in trouble.

as for your wheel if its spotted it will most likely be a fail

a dent in the tyre will most likely fail,

Just take it to an MOT station now.... ring them up and tell em your coming and for a time (even tho most are walk in's)

get it done and get legal

driving a car without to or from a MOT station is allowed, but other then that no driving what so ever

As for the tyre it'll fail
A tyre to pass must have over 1.6mm of tread over the centre 75% of tread around the entire circufrance of the tyre
There is to be no signs of cuts buldges and cords on the side wall
