private number plate?

private number plate?

You're missing the 'point', it is always pointless, it's like changing your Fiat badge to say "TYIAY", it means nothing and achieves nothing.

You're 16, why not concentrate on buying useful things and learn to drive rather than wasting it on things which have no use in any way whatsoever.

By the way, ignore me if you sometimes forget your name and therefore want a personalised plate with your name on, also consider a tattoo for the same reason :)

Why not indulge yourself later in life when you can afford to. I am probably biased however since I have never understood personalised plates.

not a christmas person eh? cheer up huni, its not all bad :)

Not at all that, I just am suggesting the young lad spend something that he will get use from, rather than something which adds nothing to his life.

its only money,
lifes too short to have ppl tell ya what not to spend it on. ;)

IMO private plates are cool. hides the age of an old car and gives your car that little personal touch. cant see no harm there. :slayer:

I LIKE my plate showing how old my car is! People are now spending a fortune on a private 'C' registration plate that once adorned a tatty mk2 Cavalier, whereas my 'C' plate came with my car ;) I WANT people to see that I am still driving an old Fiat, and besides, anyone who knows their cars will know what age it is anyway.

SOME private plates look distinctive, but to get those you have to spend a huge some of money. Often enough to buy a house with. :eek: That's why millionaire celebs have distinctive plates and Joe Public does not.

But the ones that people buy for a few hundred quid may slightly appear to say something if you know the significance of what was meant to be said in the first place, but to all others it's just a jumble of letters and numbers.

Heck, people can't even see a whole car which is why there are so many crashes on the roads, so bearing that in mind are many people really able to take note of the number plate?????!!!!!!!

Good luck to those who really want and need a 'private' plate, but like Paul I've never understood what's so important about a sequence of letters and numbers that is in general meaningless to everyone else except the owner. And like speed cameras, to me it's daylight robbery of the innocent motorist by the Government and the DVLA. I'm not giving them any extra money if I can help it.:mad:

If you want people to really take note of you, buy a car that stands out. Or buy a Punto and paint everything dayglo pink!

Happy Christmas, or should that be 'H427 XMS' :p

What do you gain by having a personalised plate beau?
So true, Beau your trying to walk before you can run. You've not even started driving lessons yet.

By the time your 20 your have bought everything known to man and be bored.

Beau you know i'm a student and i can't see how or why you'd want to spend £400+ on a number plate which isn't going to buy you happiness, friends, or anything justifiable. Yes, when you have a job and spare cash thats the time to treat yourself to a plate.

If your not careful your be late teens looking to buy a house (on stupidly high house prices) with nothing but a punto with a load of cheap tat tacked onto it.

Now i'm driving its much better to have a car you enjoy but at the same time use, use it on fuel and do something with your life - enjoy it, instead of finding the continuous urge to buy things!!! Its not what lifes all aboout.

Matt
