FAO: people who use their phone driving!!

just another example of a totalitarian nanny state telling us people what to do and impinging on our freedom to do whatever we want when we want, how dare they imply i don't have the abilty to control a ton and a half of high speed metal with one hand on the wheel, and carry on a conversation......oh sorry, wrong tack...just pre-empting the whining children on the forum who feel that they have the right to behave as they please and let someone else pick up the consequences of their actions

keep hearing that they are trying to introduce where you get 3 points on your license for using your phone while driving, seems like a very good idea to me, that combined with speeding means that although it wont prevent these things happening but it may stop some people from doing it.

I hate it when I see people using their mobile phone while driving, I always want to say somthing to them but never do.

My phone is always in the drinks holder and its just one button to put it onto hands free, can't be that hard can it?

I thought you got 3 points anyway? If you just get a slap on the wrist and a small fine, people are going to use their phones regardless. That Peugeot pic is truly horrific, it's amazing how you can just be sitting there the one minute, then within a split second, your cars caved in on itself.

It frustrates me when I see someone on there mobile whilst driving!! I was behind a car a month or so back, it was all over place, so I pulled back, the car was moving as if it was being driven by a drunk (n) I ended up next to them at the lights and surpise, surprise the driver was on his phone!

I saw about 5 people on there phones today on my way home from work, thing is I live about 2 miles away from work  Bad news!

Si

it is shocking that people seem to be oblivious to the fact that they can actually survive a journey with out using their mobile or they can spend around £30 and get a bluetooth headset or use the earphone headset that come with many phones??

i think when i read this in the paper he has a 7 year ban from driving too. it is shocking to see the number of people driving around who dont seem to care they on their phone whilst driving. im sure the call could wait and if they have rung you why cant you leave it, caller display/voicemail means that you can get back in contact with them

I'm afraid that just like not wearing seatbelts in the car and drink driving, the law is only good enough if its policed properly , and as usual where are the police when you need them ?(n)

I really hate to see drivers doing these things , not for their safety its the poor innocent person they hit !!

i guess but at the same time hw many people see a copper driving near them and say "call ya back in 2 mins" wait till they gone and then redial??

:( annoys me like you wouldn't beleive. Especially when the person on their phone does something wrong due to lack of concentration, then glares at you.

maybe think twice - or deal with the consequences. :(

I saw this story on traffic cops the other week, sad. i think the law is too lenient on people driving while on the phone. it doesn't take much effort to find somewhere safe enough to stop, or even get a proper hands free kit. the driver of the truck didn't even brake when he hit her car because he was too busy playing with his phone than taking notice of the queue of traffic in front of him and hit her car, that was stationary at 60mph. 4 years is nothing compared to the life he took away, and he even tried to deny using it, talk about adding insult to injury.
