Anyone going, well thinking of going?

It looks like tickets will be for sale from 15th March 2011 - and not on a first come, first served basis, so that is handy.

More info here

Schedule wil be released tomorrow, per the BBC

I have already registered my interest - but main thing is getting down there  then again, Womens Beach Volleyball? Tempting

Mrs S, being the horse owner and lover that she is has been promised a free ticket for one of the dressage events via some friends of hers in the know. But, as soon as I find out what the exact date is.... I am going to suggest a few days away with the lads involving mucho beer `n` curry while she toddles off down there.

Note: For those who think I am being insupportive. I will, given enough notice be prepared to give her a lift to the station on the understanding she asks me nicely (y)

Didn't realise just how close the olympic games were to starting!

I'm just a bit miffed that Glasgow has to host the commonwealth games... the city is gonna be more of a nightmare than it ever has been. I'm a delivery driver around Glasgow and I can see the city centre being chockablock with taxis, police and tourists.

*sigh*

it will be the only time that the Olympics will be in London in our lifetimes

Hopefully you're right. The olympics is nothing but a cynical marketing exercise that leaves the tax payer with a massive bill in return for 2 weeks of freakish people in tacky lycra running around in circles, having a go on a pushbike, swimming and chucking balls around. All while causing untold travel chaos. Whoopee.

£725 for a ticket for the "super final"?!?!?!?

I presume the main event there will be the men's 100m final.

£725 for about 9 seconds of excitement. I'm sure there are better deals to be had elsewhere...

The olympics went home to Greece, they spent a fortune getting everything ready & getting it right - and just look at the state of their economy.

Here we are piling millions into this miniscule event. Only a handful of huge businesses will benefit from it & we'll be left with thousands of 'supporters' who will not be making the return trip.
This country's finances are in the crapper as it is, the olympics should have stayed in Greece, let them have a decent return for their investment every 4 years & give their economy a chance to recover.

We will make that up in taxes and a much needed injection to the economy. I have been doing a lot of olympics packaging and the more you get into it the more and more sense it makes. Companies will make a lot of money. I have been working for medium sized businesses who normally do short run products 100-3000. The demand for official products will be much much higher.
It is a very very expensive process to Develop the first few products, but once they start flowing things start to become more generic and just roll themselves out. We managed 12 packs at 45mins each.
