Ahh just written this but I don't think it worked.

Sumarry:

My insurance quote I just got was £597.
I can afford that but I stupidly sold my car.

Any recommendations of cheap cars? (i mean cheap, uno sold for £325 and would have lasted me nicely, I am an idiot :( )

I am only in the thinking stages so I can't get too excited!

At the moment I am probably looking at that money, need to speak to parents and grandfather about whether it's a "goer" mum says yes, she'll give me £250, got to see grandpa about anything he might give (I know he wants me to drive as he misses me).

However, £350 would probs be my limit :S

What's going cheap Dave right now? Remember I don't mind "uncool" (within reason) don't mind diesel (aslong as insurance isn't affected) just need something cheap to buy/run and won't go wrong (touch wood lol).

What I am hoping to do but I just looked on autotrader....2 within 40 miles and both no good?! Have to check the local paper.

*reality check, speak to grandpa first!*

You should get a megane...blah blah blah etc...we're a Renault family.

Go for a nice French Renault 5. Barried to the max...

Get a nice mk2 uno again I actually walked past one the other day here in Loughborough for £250 (Goddam awful green though)

But Ren 5s I don't think are as good as unos IMO.

A 899 cinq sounds bad though - it's not the fire engine is it? That's the one we know a bit about and it's also 10% larger capacity.

LHD = would kill my insurance! Would be different though!

Local car auction is fine just I don't live here, will be going back for a good few weeks this weekend so not entirely an option for me, ebay is all well and good but problem is it's so nationwide and I would defnitely need to check out a car before buying.

Anyway, got to speak to dad and grandpa (in that order apparently or my mum will be mad!)

£600 insurance without even trying makes me grin! lol

D'oh ;)

I am in the middle of talks with mum who is off work ill (soft target ;) ) an hour a go she was practically telling me to go for it, not is much more reserved, grrr!

Still though, on the look out for a well maintained Uno L/M with less than 80k on the clock, 999 ie.....

oooh yeah!

FIAT UNO K reg, tax May, MoT Oct, used daily. £125 _ Telephone 0115.....

I will phone up again (just tried, no answer) later after speaking with grandpa, T&T (10 months MOT!) isn't bad, could be on the road until uni next year for £700...
