Anti-Phone man (aka Paul) 2, Man with phone 0

Well some of you may remember my rather stupid actions before against a guy in a VW golf who was sat on his phone behind me which lead to the most dangerous high speed chase I have ever been in, well today, the bug caught me again, i just had to.

Had just been to the post office and was walking through an open carpark towards another car park I was parked in, on the road at the otherside of the carpark there was a guy just pulling up, wrong hand on wheel, other hand around head, hmmmm, on his phone I though. Usually this road is hard to cross and he was waiting in the queue to turn at the junction, but I was dead lucky and crossed the half of the road just infornt of him, at which point I stop, turn my body to face him and with a big sign i say "get off your phone" with my hand waving accross, he was wearing unglasses and as I went around the car I didn't know even if he had noticed me (probably hadn't too busy on phone!). So i then take the more direct approach of open window at which point I notice there is a 5-6 year old girl in the car next to him, (he looked 20-30), so this angers me more, he not only doesn't care about his safety and everbody else's, but also his daughters. So i lower myself to the height of his 106 and say, "it's illegal, get off your phone before I call the police" so he sticks his finger up at me, at me! Ha, well then came my wittiness, "That's a nice gesture to be teaching your daughter" at which point I did my huge great big cheesy walace and gromit smile and turned to walk off. As i did so, the guy in the 4x4 behind undid his window and had obviously seen me making my hand away from head gestures and knew also the guy was on his phone, the guy said "nice one mate!" which made me smile. He didn't get off it though, although I felt he knew he was a cock and had accepted it some time before and also felt like a tw*t for losing an argument against me.

Before you moan at me, there were plenty of people about, two "security" people in the farmfoods carpark accross the road etc. etc. At no point was I at risk and it was damn good!

lol, that would be theft :( I might have also scared his poor daughter too. He looked like a reasonable bloke, just must have let his head be fried by all those mobile phone microwaves a bit too much! lol.

I walked away smiling my head, felt like i had given up too easily and would have been funnier to pick up my mobile....local police station please :D But that might have meant me having to run and I save that for absolute emergencies!

Paul,

Very commendable, but it is risky. You don't know whether this guy is a nutter, child in car or not! All it takes is a gun, knife, etc, "Whos laughing now, boy", forget the security of witnesses coz too late

Granted, I admit I do this all to often! Each time I think "fool".

Years ago, soon after I passed my test, so around 17/18 yo. Some pisshead down our street on a bike, middle of road. As I beeped him, to let him know I was there, the amount of abuse was horrendous. Red Rage came up, I turned the Fiesta around, and drove at him at full speed, so much so he had to jump off his bike and get on kerb. End of matter!!!

Hmm, 3 weeks later, in town centre with my mum [r.i.p.], she had popped into library while I waited - next second, this guy came up to me "Remember Me!", he spouted through the window, and pummelled my face! I drove off down the high street as he still hung on, restricted by my belt. He ran away, mum came out, panicked and called 999 [pre-mobile days] - police there immediately - guess what, CCTVs all pointing the wrong way! I had a case for ABH, statements taken, witnesses, etc - result - No further action.

It does make you think, although I still try and be the GOOD citizen! Sometimes a few deep breaths works wonders.

I hate sitting down and letting crap happen, I have done it before and regreted it, 2 teachers at school nearly had the crap beaten out of them by 2 lads from another school, my friend and I got there wondering what the hell was happening, thinking the teachers had lost it, took 30 seconds to realise what was happening and it was too late, the teachers had taken a beating but then ended up fighting back and really sorting them out (completely self defence), I regret it because I stood there, the guy had his back to me and he smacked our deputy head, I could have tackled him and slammed him into the side of the bus and had my friend to back me up, yet I missed the chance and could only help hold them down waiting for the police.

I know it's not the same, but I want to be a good citizen, good citizens should take calculated risks to prevent a crime, this was low risk. I didn't initially do anything in the previous thing because the risk was massive, I didn't know how many they had, what weapons etc. but in hindsight, I would have smacked him so hard into the side of the bus he wouldn't have been walking away 30 mins later when the police didn't turn up and they simply couldn't wait any longer.

I have had a gun pulled on me once, I was about 14, walking down my quiet neighbourhood with my friend Danny going to my house to play football or something. There was a big black guy (around 40) hanging around on a big open drive way of a house about 10 from mine, it was summer but he had a huge coat on. He swung around with a pistol and aimed it at us, we both stood still, but our arms out and he held it pointed at us for a good 30 seconds whilst we nearly pissed ourselves. He then laughed and put it back into his coat, the most surreal thing is that my friend persauded me not to tell my parents....I can't recall why, but i respected his opinion. I wished I had called 999 like I should have done, I must have been mad!

I know some people say I am silly, but sometimes you have to do what's right for others. This man was causing a danger.

It also helps being a decent runner! lol

I totally understand!

But if you take the law too much into your own hands, and use TOO much force back, they will lock you up! The law in this country tends to be on the side of the criminal.

I drive around, fully insured, taxed, MOT'd - hit a speed camera - 3 points, 60. Now imagine - no tax, insurance, etc, on benefits maybe, do the same thing - what ticket???? If the Police pull me, give fake ID, sob story, etc, and get a producer. WOW........

It is stupid, I completely agree, the generally law abiding people like you or I are so badly treated in comparison.

Those guys who beat up the teachers (who retaliated in self-defence) were in court a year later (luckily didn't have to give evidence, other witnesses). They got 10 hours community service and a stupidly small fine. The teachers - high standing in community, senior teacher we called "god" and deputy heaed - had to go through so much to keep their jobs. Although no legal action was taken, the action they took brought them into disrepute and could have lead to them being sacked. Literally 2 guys from another school came cycling up and down near the buses before the end of school, due to recent problems, there had been a few teachers around to watch over the younger kids. One of these guys was cycling up and down and "God" asked him to get off incase he hit any of the younger ones, he said "f**k off" so he asked him again, then next thing they start on "god" and another teacher seeing in runs in to help, I saw two guys I respect getting punched cleanly in the face and refusing to fight back but trying to grab them - they weren't fully grown, say 16 year olds so still had a bit of "bulkening out" to go. After the teachers took so much they had to fight back and gave them a pounding - it was self-defence but they were nearly sacked!!!

I wouldn't ever do too much, and if force ever came into it I think I would be the first to run (aslong as nobody less able to help was going to be in danger) but I don't mind setting a precedent, if you're reasonable, most people won't dare do anything back.

IMO, and note it's my own opinion, once somebody does wrong, they lose their rights on the spot. OK, vigilantism isn't good in most cases, but say in your own home, damn right it is. You would protect your family if somebody entered your house at night, 99% of people in this country would be behind you for doing so, but you would still get prison time in most cases. Mad!

Just found out that a lad who lives over the road from me got beaten up last night by 5 or 6 halfwits as he walked to the bus stop. His brother went there as soon as he heard about it, the lads were still there so he followed one home, got the names of the other ones from him, then did him some proper damage :D
(and knowing this guy like I do, there's not a word of B.S. in that).
All 3 of us (and maybe a few more lads) are going to hunt the entire gang down, one by one, and batter each and every one of them.

Yes, it's wrong in the eyes of the law, but the police do f*** all to stop this type of thing happening. So either we sort them out ourselves or the scum get away with it.

Don't get into trouble Jony, but through experience, you're right in saying the police do nothing, but I can't condone what you're saying because it's not me.

My friend "pye" was walking down his road and two guys came up to him (he was along) a few weeks ago, one said "what you looking at?" "nothing he says and keeps walking" so he gets the "don't want away from me" *thump* right in the lip. Yes we took the piss out of him for it, but damn people like that. He is about as likely to start a fight as me, granted, he has long hair and is something a dick, but they don't know that! lol

Hmm, but thinking about it, I don't understand why you say this:

Ok, 5 guys go beat up one guy, unfair and stupid.
10 guys retalliate and go beat up those 5 guys, unfair but revenge.

Why is it ok when in revenge? As my mum has always said, two wrongs don't make a right....

Paul, you did right. Good man.

Perhaps if more people reacted the same to stupidity it would be less common.
