Just a quick one. There are now modified pads from fiat for brake noise,(Grande Punto) which have a anti squeal shim on the back. There are also fetching out new pads for croma also.

Hi Guys,

Just got my new six month old Grande today and I love it! However, My indicators are annoying me....they dont go off when I turn corners. They work sometimes but very rarely and I always have to put them off myself.....Is this just me being picky or does anyone else have this problem? And how can I fix it?!

Back to the dealer i'm affraid - the should cancel every time

The only real problem I had was that someone smashed into my Sporting :(

Anyway the dealer have done an excellent job and it's as good as new, and I honestly think it actually has elminated the little dash rattles that were there before.

I've got used to Fiat / Alfa's paint work but again the car is picking up a few chips, shame.

Love the car

right....im back....AGAIN lol

Got my car replaced for a brand new 56 reg on 7th september..... last week my door handle broke...so i had to open the window to get out! Nice...had that before with me other one though.
And guess whats wrong with my car this time????
I NEED A NEW CLUTCH

I swear they are taking the mick with me.
After the grief with the last car...to get ANOTHER one with ANOTHER BIG problem.

Mine returns to the garage today, should get it back sometime around next Wednesday they say, which isn't a bad thing as I drive to Manchester once a month and it just so happens to be this weekend... means putting miles on their car, not mine.
  • Handbrake needs adjusting, when you put it on at the moment it points vertically
  • Heater outlet plastic surround near my foot is sticking out, goes up my trouser leg each time I put my foot on the clutch
  • Boot needs respraying, there's a 3 inch circular dark patch in the paint
  • Something else that I can't remember?
Apart fom the paint, nothing major at all... they are also paying for the courtesy car insurance (usually £5 at Reg V's..?) and have promised me something nice, fingers crossed I'll be the one doing eleventy sqillion miles per hour from Sunderland to Manchester at 1pm ;)

...got an GP Active 1.2, took 3 days to get to Manchester (n)
Not that I'm slagging them, my first car was a 1.2 Active, but I just couldn't cope with one of those now, so sloooooooooow.

Anyway...

Handbrake: No change "It's supposed to be like that"
Heater Outlet Surround: Done... sort of
Boot paint: Done
Nearside skirt: Re-aligned, but not good enough

So, it's back in next week...

Well my car still speaks italian :( and worse still the dealer still doesn't know how to fix it . I also think I have the rack problem as when I acclerate it creaks from the front also does it when I go over cobbles at low speed. I just really can't be arsed to book it in as I can't be without my car :(.

I think the only way they can fix the Italian speaking Blue&Me is to install the English ROM (same way you do with PDA's). I guess there is only 1 language's voice data stored on the Blue&Me ROM. I would assume that an authorized FIAT dealer/service should have that on a USB pen drive. Get me a copy of it if you can. ;)

I have a 1.2 Dynamic GP - nice car. If you like finding excuses for driving, you will love the GP - you could take it to the dealer almost every day!

Well, not quite :p . Being serious though, it has had its fair share of problems, but my local dealer (Thames Fiat Slough) has never failed to impress. They have been very quick in solving each problem and do show genuine concern when we take it in and get it fixed very quickly. Far better service than VW give us.

Anyway, the list of issues so far:

1. The car had the dodgy steering rack. The rack got replaced quite quickly after the problem was found.

2. Both front tyres shed their tread after about 300 miles. They were both replaced the day after the problem was reported.

3. It was almost impossible to open both back doors from the outside due to a design flaw. This was fixed when we took it in for the issue below.

4. The indicator broke. After using full beam headlights, you could only indicate right! They replaced the indicator stalk and it works beautifully now :)

5. The windscreen wipers were broken when we took delivery. The salesman immediately took the wipers off another car and put them on ours - fixed in under 5 minutes.

6. Water in the battery box after driving in the rain. This is outstanding still - the mechanic told us it shouldn’t do that as there is a drain hole, but it came back as "no fault found".

7. We have started to notice a really nasty vibration and clanking sound for a second or so when the engine is turned on - it almost sounds like something has come loose and is smashing about as the car starts. We haven't taken it in about this yet.

8. Low speed brake squeal - this doesn’t really concern me too much and I wouldn’t have even mentioned it if other people in the thread hadn't brought it up.

That’s about it so far. As I say though, the car is really nice to drive, and none of these issues has taken it off the road (apart from the tyres, but it was probably a problem with Dunlop not Fiat).

Also, I prefer to have faults and be taken seriously by customer service, as is the case with the GP instead of only occasionally having a fault, but getting no-where with customer service when you need them. :)

After 4 months and over 10.000Km of hard use my GP Sporting is just perfect......:slayer:

No rack problem, no paint work defects, no alloy wheel defects, no door handle defects, no electrics defects, all plastics inside in order and really enjoying the car.....

Only issue is the noise from the brakes when going backwards....

Of course maybe I am very lucky, since my previous Fiats (MK1 & MK2B) also did not have ANY problems....

I have a 1.3 Dynamic multijet 90 and the only problem I have is with the turbo lag and a rattle from the steering rack, but even that wasnt so bad. No complaints on build quality or anything else, the car is probably one of the best motorway cruisers I have driven - at least for small cars.

lol, turbo lag. that old chesnut again! The bain of the 1.3 multijet! :D

Have you asked the dealer to replace the rack for you? Is probably one of the ones that require the upgrade.

Mine is being done on Monday at last! Has anyone who has had their steering rack replaced noticed any major difference other than the noise disappearing? Does it sharpen up the handling ?

Mine lets out a very sharp squeal from the brakes when coming to a slow halt, but only when the wheels are pointing to the right, bit embarrassing in front of people in a car less than 6 months old - any ideas what that might be?

There have been some problems with the pads that were fitted....revised one's now have molybidium grease on the back/teflon to stop the slight movement of the back of the pad.
Mine has done 330 miles and for the first 200 it was pretty bad....not actual brake squeal but mor sounded like a fog horn.......now though it's much much less and only occasionally makes a noise - so sometimes it's about the brand new pads and discs getting worn in with each other.
May I suggest the obvious - take it back to the dealership....they'll fix it whilst you wait.

Latest problem for me is an airbag failure warning light/message and the seatbelt reminder warning lights coming on - this happened in my old Punto too - looks like another trip to the dealer.

i Just want to put this thread into perspective.
Had my car since march 2006 - have now done 10,000 miles and still not had any need to visit my dealer yet. hopefully first time will be for the service.
These cars are mass produced on a big scale so you have to expect occasionally something might go wrong during production thats why they give us a 3 year warranty.
I think the GP is a very good car and cannot see what i would trade it in for at the moment.:D

Picked up mine on 1st Oct and had very heavy rain yesterday and the skydome leaks  Dealer here I come! Everything else is fine.
