Hello there guys im back again with some more issues with my wee grande punto (god i love this car) so i managed to fix rear window regulator and replace the drivers door wiring loom (thanks to you guys for the help)

however im now having an issue where sometimes when i start the car i get a powersteering warning saying "check power steering / see owners handbook"
but there dosent apear to be anything wrong with the powersteering that i can tell anyway although the car has a very slight drift/pull to the left by that i mean the steering wheel wants to naturally sit slightly left

i just had the cars front wheels aligned by kwikfit 2 days ago now and the problem still persists i thought maybe that once the wheels were aligned it was just a matter of letting the car recalibrate itself but the issue is still here

i also noticed if i turn my wheel lock to lock the angles the wheel sits at is EXTREMLY different the wheel turns a lot more to the left than it will to the right very noticable (i can include videos if necesary) the tyres dont seem to be worn uneavenly so i cant see anything there and i cant see any damage to suspension tie rods etc so im at a loss the only other thing i can do is spend a lot of money taking it to a garage to try see if they can find out whats wrong but id rather try it myself

any help you guys can give me will be greatly apreciated
many thanks

Check the Earth strap..lots of info and even a guide in/on here. Its a very common issue that causes lots of issues and is under £20 to fix.
Is the city button working ok?
Does the steering go heavy?ie the power steering motor stop working?..

hi no the power stearing dosent go heavy and the city button works perfectly i cant actualy see or feel for that matter any problems with the power steering other than the fact the car can turn the steering wheel more to the left than the right under full lock

Has the steering wheel been off at all?..assuming it steers straight and doesnt wander when you let take your hands off the steering wheel?..on a private road of course..

no the steering wheel goes slightly to the left but stops at slightly and i have no clue if the wheel has been off i am just back from kwik fit the second day in a row now as i had the front wheels aligned for 60quid after being told that was the issue and its still bloody does it

Technically it IS possible that the rack has been assembled with one tooth offset and been compensated by the connecting rods adjustment. But it's not likely ...

If someone here helped You fix -or better, understand- your issue, hit the thanks icon @ bottom right corner, it's free and makes us feel helpy ;-)

its looking more and more like a the powersteering components to be suspect than anything else i dont think its the actual steering rack itself but im not entirely sure im no mechanick haha but i might just go to a breakers yard and see if i can get the shaft and motor unit as one and try install it myself but i aint exactly confident in doing that incase i do something wrong

If your going to replace the steering motor you have to replace it with one that has the same numbers on it,a direct swop otherwise you end up having to pay to get it mated to the car.And I wouldnt suppose you could drive the car to get it sorted either.
I got one off ebay,£40 delivered and followed the 'other way' as described in the comments after the 'how to' or 'guide' within the forum.
