Hi all,

I'm a little bit concerned about a squeaking noise coming from my engine after I turn on the Ignition. Basically, I turn the engine on and I hear a squeak for about a second or so and it disappears. Though, this squeaking has stopped and come back. Not sure what the problem is. Probably a loose timing belt or pulley?

Any ideas?

@peaches9 welcome to the forum, Highly likely to be the altenator belt. about £10 to replace if that. garages will charge around £40 guessing (part + hourly rate)

Definitely the alternator belt.
Ours did this until we got a bit of oil on it while fixing an oil leak.
After about 3 months, it's just started happening again.

If the noise comes up only when starting-up and only for 1-2 seconds it might also be the starter motor and not the belt. In that case you can either replace it (expensive option) or service it, which should restore it to almost brand new condition for only a fraction of the cost.
