Hi im having problems with Fiat, there is rust on the hatch back. It is a 06 plate grande punto.
Fiat say it not rust ,but I have been to 5 independant garages and they all say it is rust? Has anyone else had this problem?
I am still waiting for fiat to get back to me after i sent them the 5 garage inspection. Also my car uses a bit of oil is this normal? and now the yellow light comes on saying i should go to a garage

Thats better, no rust problems on tailgate that we know of, where abouts is this rust, any photos?

You dont say how much oil the car is using?

If it says 'go to garage' then it might be an idea to do that;)

Oh and welcome to FF:)

no rust problems that you know T? thats odd, as mines just been in to have the inside of the boot lid shot blasted and resprayed under warrnty(08 plate) and my mates 58 plate dub grande punto has rusted in exact same place. when you open boot and look where drain holes are(not the rubber bungs) theres like a rubbery hard glue where the boot skin is folder over..... ts that area.. quite bad mine was too, my dealer said theres been a few theyve seen now... due to water not evacuating from inside of boot properly

Never seen one myself, not saying there isn't....not exactly sure where the rust is, do you mean on the actual folds on the tailgate by/around the rear screen?

OP is somewhat vague in his description.

There is a water leakage problem on them, it can get in where the rear wiper is and the rear brake light, on my old one if it had been raining and you opened the boot, water would pour out of the drain holes. not condensation we're talking 1 Ltr+.
So maybe yours has that problem?

Mine was a 1.9 sporting and to give you an idea,
0-5000miles 1/2 a liter of oil was needed,
5000-25'000miles 0 liters of oil was needed between services.

Take it another fiat garage, a fiat garage with a body shop.
Also any more problems talk to fiat UK direct about it, try have the other body shops give you a diagnosis in writing.
And don't forget 10 year perforation warranty :D

Hi again im still waiting for a reply of fiat the rust is where the drain holes are ,the car uses about a litre every 4 thousand miles ,ive discovered now theres water in the driver side seems to be a common fault would this come under warranty ?? The dealers i went to see are abergele slaters f-----g w-----s I have owned fiat cars for the last 24 years and this is the worst car i have ever owned GRANDE PUNTO 1.4 SPORT

Water in the drivers side? Drivers side what?? You need to give us as much detail as possible so we can help you. At present i'm struggling to understand most of what your saying. No offence!

There are two sides to every story (y)

But regardless of your opinions of them, after naming them in here and describing them as bunch of w*****s are you still expecting them to help you?....Looks like you have just flushed any chance of goodwill down the crapper mate :D

I'll punctuate again:)

Hi again, im still waiting for a reply from. Fiat. The rust is where the drain holes are.

The car uses about a litre every 4 thousand miles and now I have discovered there is water in the driver side. Is this a common fault and would this come under warranty ?

The dealers I went to see are Abergele Slaters and they are f*ckingg wanke*s.

I have owned fiat cars for the last 24 years and this is the worst car I have ever owned, GRANDE PUNTO 1.4 SPORT

I think the problem here is clarity, water can come in from many places and it is not always obvious however I think it needs proper investigation.

OP does not state how long they have owned the car, this will of course have a bearing on any possible warranty or goodwill claim however as the car is 5 years old I doubt it.

But surely,a litre every 4 thousand miles is well within limits?
As for Slaters Abergele,I have dealt with them for years, and find them excellent!

Watch this one :D
He/she is touchy (and a bit deluded) :D I have just had a raft of strange PMs off him/her.....didnt like the voice of reason, thinks the world revolves around him/her and is mistaking me for someone who COULD give a sh** about what he/her thinks :D

At great pains to tell me he/she has buying Fiats for 20+ years but is not going to buy another one......ARRRGGGHHH my life is over, anyone got the phone number for the Samaritans??

C-mon Jat, keep it in the forum eh......I am sure everyone else would like to hear your views etc (y)

Fiat told me today, that it would have to be a hole in the tailgate ,so my car has no holes just a couple of bubble rust starting so it is not covered with the warranty .

That's a load of rubbish, ask them to find the hole in the tailgate then. If not, go to your next nearest fiat dealer (go straight to their bodyshop) and show them the rust.
