General Servo cover plate rusted through

Found my '06 punto to have a small pond in the driver's side rear footwell following the heavy rain last month.
After looking on here found that the servo plate was indeed very rusty.
Last weekend I followed Phil's instructions and replaced it with a new one from fiat.
The state of the plate I removed was pretty shocking (see attachment)!
To be honest the replacement process is pretty straightforward, as long as you have a decent set of tools. Before this I hadn't had much experience in car maintainance but it only took me 2.5 hours.
If you are in any way technically minded you should have no problems.
If you want some pointers just ask.

Now to replace the carpet and get rid of the farmyard-like smell!

I still havnt got around to doing ours, it's an outdoors job (garage isn't big enough) and the winter weather doesn't help.

Looking at the image above, ours is no where near this bad.
Plus considering the daughter now has a full time job, the car will be going soon anyway, so i'm am tempted to cover it with bonded plate.

Hi,

to resurrect and old thread, I had this problem recently and fixed it by patching it up, getting a new drain hose and sealing the plastic cover on so everything in that are should be sealed and watertight.

However, just went outside after some rain and the underneath carpet is soaked through again!!

Any ideas as to where else this water could be coming from? :bang:

thanks
Jacob

Sorry to resurrect an old thread but I’ve just ordered a new plate and hope to fit it next weekend.

It all looks relatively straightforward and I plan on taking photos every step of the way in the hope it helps others. One area that isn’t entirely clear though is how others have disconnected the vacuum hose? Does it unscrew from the servo or do I just disconnect the blue pipe?

Thanks in advance! :)
