Just been to my local garage to ask what they would recommend for bringing the colour in my bumpers back. He asked what model I had. I said the 1.4 16v sporting. He was then adamant that the only did the sporting in the t-jet and m-jet. I then took him outside to prove to him they did do one. He then said that the previous owner must have made it look like one! Surely it's his job to know these things!

He also recommened "diamond brite" for my bumpers. Anyone had this done?

There's even a sticker in the door saying what model it is. he saw that and said "yeaaaaaaa. They are sometimes wrong"

i had that when i was going for any interview with fiat a few years a go, the dealership manager was adamant they didnt do a stilo abarth, until i said about it being a 2.4 and then he said must have only been available in italy.

Take a tip and be careful what you say about people in a public forum. You have now made your identity obvious to those concerned and one day you might want their help. They wont go the extra mile for you if you start slagging them off particulalrly if its over something as trivial as this.

Who was the salesman? Better of chatting to the two guys round the back who do the Valet.

I'll second that as the DP and Service Manager and a few sales staff all browse FF though last time I spoke to anyone about FF they mentioned their corporate internet policy blocks it but they do take a keen interest at home...

I don't go the Blackburn branch if I need work doing so it's fine.

agreed but an interest in the brand your selling is a bonus, would always work with me if a salesman can engage in a decent conversation about the cars they're selling.

and check detailingworld.co.uk for detailed car cleaning advice

I’m always surprised by how little some salespersons know about the cars their selling.
I think its really just the age we now live in and as “T14086” has stated “very few salesmen care about the brand they sell to pay the bills” (not only limited to car salespersons unfortunately) which isn’t of course helped by these massive dealership chains selling multiple makes, as well as the fact that they are forever moving staff around.
If I was a car salesman I would prefer to know the brand I was selling and I always prefer to deal with a salesman who can answer my questions accurately or at least admit if they don’t actual know.

Just remember, there will always be idiots out there!!;)

True story, I overheard a salesman saying to another 'Is renault French'? WTF! I laughed for the rest of the day.

May I just point out there are good salesmen out there but in general the larger chains employ anybody,as the rate of pay is so low, wether they have a interest in the motor trade or not.

Or you can go to a garage where the same salemen have worked there years and really know their stuff.

I went to Wentane Motors the other week to look at a Panda. Ended up chatting with the salesman about nearly the whole range, and all the cars of the last 10 years. Very frank and honest about the strengths and weaknesses (most of which we all know here;)) which helps when you have to trust someone to sell you several thousand pounds of car.

He even knew what a Croma was (I bet a lot don't) and knew that you can't order them anymore in the UK, even as a RHD conversion.
