Alright mate, I know the feeling too my 06 M-JET turbo blew up literally 10(crawling)seconds away from the M.O.T place. It still passed though
I didn't buy mine new so I don't know if it was battered before "I battered it too" but I learned from my mistakes.
In the end I bought a turbo from a 2007 M-Jet off ebay with 3000 miles on it and ever since, I have let it warm down cool down (what ever one is right) let it relax
before turning it off and also drive without boost for a few minutes before I reach my destination.
To be honest, the new turbo felt alot better than the old one ever did.
(maybe it was dodgey, it was a turbo from the 06 batch after all
)
I also fitted a silicone boost hose from the turbo to the intercooler so there is no suction/flex like in the standard overly priced one, a BMC panel filter and also fitted a de-cat on the turbo to stop back pressure.
(also to make it more free flowing)
In total I have spent £1100 in repairs since I've had my GP and that's not including the write off that my insurance paid for because the other guy had no insurance.
P.s. Mine went into Fiat and they did not detect the Re-Map, but the warranty was out (by 11days) so I wasn't paying them over £900 fitted.
What are you running Bhp and ft-lb ?
