Technical Question for GP owners who re-mapped

Just thought I'd follow up my post-service thoughts as promised.

My GPS MJet went for it's 18,000 mile service last week. Around 13,000 of those miles have been enjoyed with a remap that has increased the power to (a genuine ;)) 175bhp.

Some of you may already know that I had a difficult and, on reflection, pathetic experience with my previous Fiat dealership. After changing to another local garage I'm pleased to report that the service and attention to my car was excellent yet again! No moaning about getting it tuned and a thorough check of my engine/turbo resulted in there being absolutely no problems at all.

These guys seemed genuinely keen to maintain my car to the best standard knowing about the remap and, maybe more importantly, looked after me as a concerned customer. That's more like it!

Good stuff thanks for that PEZZ, had my Red Dot map done at the recent RR day at Watford, see Sig notes... (y)

Had my Mjet done: 189.9bhp and 265lb/ft torque.
My mate had his Fabia done: 178bhp and 250lb/ft torque.

Both of us were landed with the extra performance, economy and smoothness. (Averaged 53mpg on the way home)

With the longlife backbox on mine it now sounds like a WRC car on volume 2!

6th gear is stupidly responsive, 3rd gear ate my mates Civic Type R, and 4th and 5th are good to!

I would recommend anyone to hjave it done with Red Dot, best £200 I've spent.

:yeahthat: :D

I'm going down as soon as my new turbo is on, to see my 5th (or 4th?) map!

Probably be before trax if possible! Guna go for 200bhp this time with the mods. I'll keep you all posted.

U only got 7 bhp to find Kris (well on my map anyhow!) :D

I should have said at least 200bhp :p

I'm trying to get a bravo turbo put on at the moment. Alot stronger.

I'll watch your results with a keen interest in case I need to.... No banish the thought.... :p

Blimey Ffoxy that's a hell of a remap! Red Dot seem to be tuning to a higher output these days. Do you know if they have evolved the maps or is it just car specific?

HI guys as I said to you all before the turbo combo is Alfa 159 2.4 JTD, (this is a 250bhp turbo) you can use Alfa 147 8V Ex manifold etc. but you must redrill the base of the Turbo to fit the 159 turbo & then you need to cut the front of the turbo off remacine the nose to fit the air in take, you then must block of the turbo drain in the frnt of the block, drop your sump fit a new turbo drain to the upper edge of your sump, mak a new oil suply line fror the oil feed, you will need to make a new feeder pipe from your air mass meter to feed the front of the turbo, then you must make a new dump pipe that clears the front of the engine, & the AC compresser, remake the turbo conetions to the intercooler etc...

this is how it is done I have all photos etc.., this is what the factory cars use on the Grande Punto Sport Abarth's. as this is what is now in I may rally car.

This is the only option that will work out of the parts bin, I can suply custom made turbo manifolds to carry the 159 Turbo wich will reduce the need to modify the base of the turbo and will flow better than factiory case 147 8V manifold.

The 159 Turbo is a KKK unit most comonly, but there is a Garret unit also made.

it is all in thr FIA Homologation Doc's ref # A-5708

Best regards Phil

Just a thought! hve any of you guys got coies of these files that have been punt in to your cars as I would love to see if you can email then to me, I am shaw a few of the Australia GP owners would be interested in these up grade programes.

Regrads Phil

Hey new to forum
Had my 1.4tjet remapped 4months ago and last month i was full throttle along m-way and i started slowing down lol.
No smoke form exhaust or anything, i think the turbo just stopped working.
i stopped and waited a bit then restarted and eventually the power was back. similar problems??

also once remapped i couldnt tell a big difference. should have been about 30bhp increase should there be a big difference?

who did the remap?

the remap on th tjet is restricted due to the size of the turbo i think most guys are getting 10-20bhp tops and thats with an induction kit too unless you uprate the turbo! First tjet turbo failure ive heard of

I think that should be asked of Oldschool TBH.

I would guess the re-map I got has been evolved by the Red Dot guys over time but not specific to my car, Oldschool may know different, but my car was done inside an hour.

My car was developing 144 bhp as standard Pezz. (y)

just thought i would add my comments. I had my car mapped to 192.9bhp. running on shell v-power. The map was done as 15k and I'm now on 18k. the cars oil is changed every 5k miles. My turbo does whistle but only when cold.
