Pulled up outside my house the other day and noticed a grinding noise whilst braking, only seems to do it at a low speed, sounds like it is deffinatly coming from the rear discs. i know a few other GP owners have had a problem with the discs grinding when reversing. Anyone else had this problem?

i have looked in the known faults' thread and the known fault for the braes are squeling, mine are not squeling they are grinding

All brakes make some noise when they come on, there are two surfaces in contact one if which is moving. Its totaly normal, just you can hear it a slow speeds. Rear brakes dont do as much work as the front so maybe they still have to fully bed in or there may be some light rust on the discs.

been nearly 3 weeks since i picked up the car and it is still doing it, 99% it is from the rear discs. there won't be any rust on the discs if i have been on a long journey but it still does it.

Depends how long your car has been stood at the dealers/ in some distribution center compound.....

you could try (at your own risk) driving slowly for a short distance with the handbrake lightly applied (it acts on the rear brakes) and see if that makes it any better...

mine was an order due to the options so it hasn't been sitting in a compound or the dealers. might mention it to them when it goes in, in december
