Technical The saga continues with faulty grande sport

Ive got so many other things to be worrying about at the mo with my car, i can afford to put that one on the back burner for now.

Like i say the dealership said....yes i did need a new clutch and the fault has been reported to them before, and they replaced it, but fiat uk didnt authorise it so they didnt get paid for the clutch and work done, so they got a fiat uk tech to come down, he looked at it (probably from the other side of the forecourt) and said it didnt need a new clutch

Really, there are other more important things in life than a car to worry about (think I said this to myself a few months ago but damn its hard to let go :bang:)

That's because you've spent a large portion of your hard earned money on something that you need to use everyday and rely on and you deserve a quality product ;)

You know, you're right. This is the first time I've used money that was earned with my sweat to buy my own car.. ok maybe not entirely, the car I traded in was bought by my parents, but you get my drift. Plus I'm a perfectionist by nature, so I can't stand something not that is not 100%.

Yeah same here, I'm also a VERY fussy person. If I decide to get a GP it will be first new car and it's a lot of money so that's why I haven't rushed into it, I like to be 1047% sure first :)

How did you come up with that number? :p

I had no idea but now that you mention it, each number has two keys between the next number I typed with that hand. Must have been a subconcious thing to make it neat :D

Anyway not only is having a faulty car unnacceptable, but how on earth is anybody going to want to buy it off you? Let alone another dealer accepting it as a trade-in.

Kev are you sure you and rob19791 didn't buy your cars from the same dealer? :p

What defects? ;)

Exactly (y)

Speaking of which when you trade in the dealer usually just starts the engine and makes a quick visual check; if it looks and sounds alright then that's good enough. Private sells are a complete different ball game though.

but have been told that they dont know why my car is showing a tape deck and they may have to replace my dashboard!!! I cant remember all my faults.....im sure you find them if you look for them on here (under my posts) but to name a few,

5. Display showing Tape Deck A

Does it still do that on yours? Mine did that twice last night - can't remember if it was "Tape Playing A" or "Tape A Playing" but it was sure weird as I don't have a tape deck! Once I eject and put the CD back in, it seems to be fine.

Don't know if this is related or not, but I had a feeling the audio system wasn't acting normally. E.g. with a CD playing if I press the CD button it keeps saying AUX.

(Guess I shouldn't have laughed at you at the first place as its now happening to me )

LOL

Its a new dash cluster you need, i was fortunate as i was near the dealer when it showed up so i went straight there.

They tried resetting the computer....which did solve the flashing milage but it didnt cure the "tape deck A" problem.

My part is ready and waiting to be fitted but i have had to go away with work for a month so il have to get it fitted when im back.
My clutch is getting worse and worse....juddering like hell now, and getting harder and harder to engage a gear....but hey, as people have said its only a cheap car (9500) its to be expected LMFAO!!!!!!!

They still havent sorted my paintwork which is really really p***** me off. But ive become use to being fobbed off. Its always the same old story "someone from fiat will come down next time your cars in to have a look" Its like they have psychic abilities and know im going to get more problems.!!!!

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
FIAT SUCKS!!!!

Cant wait to chop it in....im counting down the days!

What does a dash cluster do?

I don't think its a serious issue, but just annoying!

To be honest i thought the same thing... i think they are just clutching at straws to be honest.

I suppose i will have to wait and see if it actually works. I would have thought that it couldnt be the cluster itself as it is just dials and displays, its got to be a connection to the cluster that is faulty to make it show up...i could be wrong, i am no expert afterall.:D

I'm a bit confused - so has your cluster been replaced?

confused eh lol

My dash cluster hasnt been replaced yet as im away with work till the end of the month.
The dash cluster is at the dealership waiting to be fitted. :D

I see.. so have you seen that "Tape" message anymore since you first saw it?

yep comes on most days when im driving it, no patern just radomly pops up.

Only happens when you first start the car though when the cd player is on. If you turn the car off and start it again then the "tape deck A" dissapears.

Very strange.... hopefully when they change the dash cluster it will get rid of it, but im not too optamistic to to be honest. Like i said in a previous post, the cluster itself receives information from elsewhere i would presume, ie the computer on board?
Hence when the guy reset the computer the millage stopped flashing. I know its not a major problem having this tape deck thing displaying but, knowing my luck as soon as my warranty runs out they will hit me with a huge bill and tell me that its something serious.

lil buggers:D

Like you implied, I doubt replacing the cluster would help, after all, they're just the displaying components rather than the bit that sends the signal. Maybe T can shed some light on this?

Having said that, though annoying, the message can be amusing, depending on your mood :D
