Bravo (Classic) My Fiat Bravo HGT 155 20v Turbo

Introduction

So i was asked to make a build thread for my 20vt Bravo HGT so here goes ....

In January 2016 i Bought this lovely 155 HGT from blu73
Immediately fitted the car with sone Marea HLX polyelliptical headlights, some wind deflectors which Chris kindly gave me, a Marea centre console and that was it

I used the car for a couple of months but in April 16 the car developed several issues on the way back from Brooklands
After a few hours taking the engine to pieces we diagnosed a Cracked block [emoji22]

I didnt take long to come to the conclusion that it would be nearly impossible to find a low mileage 155 20v engine ......so the next best thing was found .....a 32,000mile 2.0 20v Turbo engine from a prestine Fiat coupe that was rear ended .......
I had just broken up my previous 20vt HGT due to engine failure and decided that the shell was way past it .....so i removed everything i could and scrapped the shell....

First order of business was to strip the car down completely to see what i had to work with .....
Old engine was sent to scrap with some bits and bobs being kept just in case .....

First port of call was the engine bay ....
Chassis legs were smoothed, dents removed as best as i could .....
Cleaned, rust was treated and the complete bay was painted in Ink Black(820/A)...

Then the front strut towers were all wire wheeled down to expose a fair amout of surface rust ....that was all treated, primed painted with 5 coats of hammerite and is now awaiting a final coat in body colour ....

The underneath of the car was given the same treatment and surprisingly not too much was found so i though that was the last of it ( boy was i wrong ) .....

I moved into the interior.
First was to rip everything out and put into storage .......
All wiring was ripped out and replaced with a wiring loom from my previous 20vt HGT ...which originally was a 147 20v HGT....while i was there the brake and clutch masters were all replaced with brand New Coupe Parts ....
dash was replaced with a dash without the baby cradle (had passenger airbag)....
Carpets were put back in .....

For a few months things took a back seat as i went and purchased my Second HGT and a little Bravo 100 Trofeo and my health took abit of a beating ......
While no work was going on the body of the car i was still building engine

So the 32,000 mile engine was stripped down, headgasket was replaced with a genuine Fiat multilayer gasket
Everything cleaned ...painted ..and put back toghether, a drivetorque stage 3 6 puc clutch was fitted, along with my 6speed gearbox.
The head was sent off to be check out and was in need of nothing so came back ....was really happu as you cam imagine....
For the moment i had the standard exhaust manifold welded up and a garrett GT2871r turbo was purchased second hand, turbine housings are chinese branded(ebay) and the turbo cartridge was bought new from Mamba tek and put together.....
3inch downpipe was also purchased to go with the turbo ...

Another couple of months passed and unfortunately i lost interest and motivation completely..so i left it for 6 months.....

July 2018 i decided to get my ass in gear .....so i bought a brand new engine crane and dumped the engine im the car and got crackin .......Intercooler was then ordered and plumbed in with 3inch pipingfrom turbo to throttle body.
Custom oil cooler setup was also made up with an oil filter relocation as the original oil filter location is a pain ..

Next was the rear of the car and immediately regretted it .......
Few rust patches quuckly turned into a full rear end strip down and fabricating new panels .....

So i started with the spare wheel well which started as a small square of rust but the more i cut the more crap metal was revealed....
Was quickly decided to completly remove the spare wheel well and just blank it off .....
At this point after a few hours of research the plans for the car did a complete U turn .......
Originally wanted a 20vt powered cruiser .......but after some research i decided i was going to make a brilliant handling track machine ......
So an Alfa Romeo 916GTV rear subframe was ordered to replace the original unit that came from factory ....
Whilst waiting for that to arrive i decided to tackle the rest of the rust on the rear end
Both of the rear inner arches were completly shot ....so currently on the hunt some clean ones .....
But whatbi could was cleaned and treated and temporarily painted .....
Once all the welding and repairing is complete i will be fully painting the complete underside in body coulor ....
Last week i finaly got the subframe back from powder coating and was test fitted .....

That brings me up to the present day

Things still to do in order:

.Finish repairing the Metal of the car

.Paint the underside in body color

.Fit the rear frame and replace all bushing with powerflex blackline items. Alfa Romeo GTV Cup rear ARB also to be fitted ....

.Fuel cell, Swirl Pot, AEM inline pump and lines need to be plumbed in

. Finally fire it up for the first time

Then the Fun starts .....
Rollcage is on order,
Bola B12 in white also on order
Then a full repray in white and then the livery will go on and will be a homage to 80s rally cars .....either a Toptip or an Allitalia livery ......

Thats where things are atm .....
Forgot to mention that i have fitted a Full Genuine Abarth kit from Zender, side skirts still to go on, all the rear window have also been replaced with Lexan plastic

Photos are breif but will post them in order from the day after collection to this morning

Any questions or critisism welcome [emoji106]
Enjoy
